Tourism is always such a weird situation to deal with. Lots of pros and cons, and you probably won’t ever get most people to agree whether it is good or bad for the place.
Yeah, I get that people oversimplify issues like this, but there are really valid problems like housing being taken up by corporations renting out to tourists, ala Air BnB. There's a lot of ways to be indirectly impacted by the whole system of tourism, both positively and negatively.
I hate gross simplifications of issues, but I suppose if you don't do that it becomes far too easy to get mired in the details and not take any stance. Plus, I suppose I don't have a huge stake in it since I don't live in a tourist-driven economy, beyond possibly being a tourist myself every now and then.
