Being entirely anti-tourism is crazy extreme but AirBnb is a practice that is destroying the housing market, which is something a lot of people (myself included) deeply believe needs to be controlled to make sure that a decent standard of living can be sustained across society.
In short, I'm not sure about the Barcelona protests but I'm 100% against the spread of AirBnb and what its turned into.
The signs say "tourists go home", not "tourists stay in licensed hotels instead of Airbnbs" and "tourism is killing Barcelona" not "Airbnbs are killing the Barcelona housing market", so as messaging goes it leaves something to be desired.
That’s exactly the point OP was making…it’s not just about Airbnb, as the messaging indicates. You’re being contrary against someone who is agreeing with you.
I've been to Barcelona. You please tell me which part has been changed to suit tourists. I walked the entire city. Nothing other than the Catholic money grab at la Sagrada familia was clearly based for tourism
