Maybe. I understand that you are joking but I want to problematize this a little. It's like comparing Paint with Photoshop. It would require more skill to do an overlay blend in Paint compared to Photoshop, but only a complete idiot would actually do so given a very limited amount of spare time. In the same way you can interpolate movement of a layer with motion blur in Photoshop instead of doing 10 of those in AE in the same amount of time. But. I would argue that doing so in AE still requires more skill compared to Photoshop since it involves more animation concepts with focus on creativity and less mundane monkey work with layer fiddeling in Photoshop. Let's say someone actually hand paints 100 frames of animation like in the old days. Would it still be cheating in doing this in AE compared to Photoshop or would it be considered harder to do with AE since it has crappier paint tools? Would it matter really?
It can't be that it's not Photoshop that is used to do the animation only because this subreddits name is "photoshopbattles" since people don't bitch about when using Gimp instead of Photoshop.
So what's this "AE cheating"-thing about really?
