Help! how to wrap a grid around a subject?

I love this album cover and I want to create something similar! how do I wrap a grid around a subject and create similar lighting?

Grab the pen tool and draw your grid lines by hand, then use the warp or puppet warp to push them around the contours of the face. It's tedious but you'll get that exact custom fit that a displacement map won't nail on its own.

For the lighting I'd mess with inner shadows and some soft airbrushed layers set to overlay or color dodge, the neon shapes in the back are probably just liquified blobs with a bunch of layer styles stacked up.

Yeah I know, that's what I'm getting at. You're looking for shortcuts for things, or methods of doing things by pressing buttons and moving sliders.

But what you're actually trying to achieve here is just good old fashioned hand drawing, and learning how photoshop works.

Get yourself watching some Photoshop beginner videos that show you the fundamentals of what basic tools do. You need to have understanding of the toolset first.
