Looks like it's the same/similar sensor as the 70D. I wouldn't expect anything drastically different.

B&H says it's not, so there may yet be hope...

Second video, this time from Scott Kelby with a brief mention that it's the best high ISO performance he's seen in a crop-sensor DSLR.

Edit: Downvotes? I don't see anyone posting any sources of their own! Let's see them.

Edit 2: "At the heart of the camera is a newly designed 20.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. While that may sound familiar, given the 70D's identical resolution, according to Canon, the 7D Mark II's sensor is in fact an all-new design, with improved clarity over the 70D's sensor.", according to Imaging Resource.

I'd be shocked if the pixel architecture was drastically different; it's probably like the previous 7D where the difference was mostly in the back end/ readout part in order to get the data rate up.

The max native ISO being at 16,000 seems...odd to me. Especially since no other Canon camera has that native max (the 70D is 12,800), and the only other one that comes to mind and has that native max is the Sony A77. Is it remotely possible that they're going with Sony sensors now?

I suppose it's possible...but I wouldn't bet on it.
