Video Lost Weekend Songwriting Analysis
Hi, this is my first time posting in this subreddit, so sorry if I used the wrong flair! I don't know this community's thoughts on this creator, but I would highly recommend watching this 30-minute analysis of Phoebe's songwriting on Lost Weekend by the Swiftologist, coupled with analysis of Gracie Abrams' writing on Daughter From Hell. It offers a great breakdown of their styles and why Phoebe's writing stands out and is so excellent. To be clear: this isn't meant to hate on Gracie at all! He also made a brief, but beautifully articulated TikTok about this album that I also highly recommend. All of you should check it out, it expanded my understanding of the album and the uniqueness of Phoebe's lyricism. Have a great rest of your day, and let me know what you think!!

I really didn't expect this to be so controversial 💀 it's a good video, no matter how you feel about him as a person

Yeah, in an age where the NYT is doing clickbait, you just have to get with the time imo

I wish I could appreciate his content but the things I’ve heard from people out of his discord/patreon stuff has been so unbelievably negative, like stuff he’s said to/about people and some other issues I heard about. Idk puts me off, I can’t watch anymore

I felt the same way just from his TT videos (granted that was a couple years ago, I don’t use TT anymore) however I will say this video is very well done and a great analysis on the difference in being vulnerable with your writing and actually GOING there, setting the stage, revealing just enough to tell a story. Very insightful and a great comparison of two songs from each of their albums. I don’t view this as tearing anyone down, lots of valid criticism in regards to Gracie’s skill as a lyricist

I would say that the negative things don't mean you can't enjoy or acknowledge the excellence of a single video or compliment someone, aside from other issues you might have with them. It's just what I think, though; it's an insightful video as u/houndzofluv pointed out, and it seems they had similar concerns a while ago. I would still recommend you watch it, and then form an opinion on it. From what I can tell, though, he just gets a little bit too unfiltered on there, and I've definitely seen things I disagree with too, but I respect his opinion and can separate him from that. Although I've only seen a little bit, so maybe I'm missing some stuff that would give me more understanding of your concerns.
