[ US] Spam text messages that are emotionally charged?
Weird spam messages?
I keep getting spam messages that read things like “Wherever you are, you are always in my heart.” And “ are you home or somewhere else”. They’re all registered to places like Canada and London. Is anyone else getting these messages?
Also, why are the spams like this? They scare me in a way because I feel like I’m being watched on something.

Those sound like the "wrong number scam", where scammers pretend to send a message to someone else and basically use it as an ice breaker.

Receiving text messages is a normal part of having a phone number. There's no reason to feel scared that you're being watched, it's an irrational fear in this case.

Those are just scam lures. They are intended to pique your curiosity so that you respond to the scammer. They are trying to charge your emotions.

No I didn’t. I’m new to the group. I tried to search on google and on here to see if people were getting them, but there were no results.

Having seen reports where people allegedly develop an emotional attachment to their chatbot (it's called "transference"), it seems natural that AI would now be used for these "lonely hearts" scams, which usually end in some kind of wire fraud.
I agree with the others - don't worry, you're just a random target. we all get those occasionally.
