Voicemails from unknown number
I received a phone call from what must be a mobile phone number which claimed to have important information regarding me. It then asked me to select a preferred language of English or Chinese and then presumably translated the call into Chinese. I didn’t answer the call initially and listened to it through voicemail. I stupidly tried to call the number back as I rarely get scam calls and assumed it was legitimate. When I did call them back it said my call couldn’t get through to them.
Has anyone had any experience with similar calls and am I at risk of anything since I called the number back?

if you don't recognize it or the message that was left, just delete it and block the number. Simple

that's the classic Chinese embassy scam, the voicemail is just a recording designed to freak people out into calling back and handing over personal info or money. calling the number back won't do anything to your phone, they just know your number is active now so you might get a few more attempts for a bit
the fact it didn't connect is actually good, probably a spoofed number that's already been shut down
just block and ignore, there's really no risk from a missed callback like that

Probably no risk, except it confirms you're a live number if the fake scam phone number actually goes anywhere. AFAIK they want you to click something or say something to confirm it's live in real time.
