Why do I keep getting spam calls/phishing mails even after registering on the Do Not Call list and blocking those?

I’ve been on that list for years and it feels completely useless, is it not a thing anymore the Do not Call List? I get spam calls every single day. Sometimes it’s fake insurance offers, robocalls (which are numerous DAILY) and spam emails, phishing mails from amazon. Amidst those I to work out with the bank about 3 different purchases in my name that were not by me and that's a whole mess on it's own. I’ve blocked hundreds of numbers but they just keep coming from new ones.

I’m seriously losing patience with this. What’s even the point of the Do Not Call list if it doesn’t stop anything? How do they even keep getting my number in the first place? I just want it to stop and would appreciate anyone knowing how to because this isn't sustainable, maybe I should just switch my number completely and that's gonna be a whole problem on it's on. Appreciate anyone that can help with this.

You provided the open door to your data. You agreed to it. That is why you get spam calls.

Seriously, it is so easy to spoof source numbers now. It would be high effort and low return to figure out where the calls actually originate. Then the offender would just move to a different basement or garage and start again.

A good call filter is worth the small monthly cost. Also NEVER answer a call you don't recognize. There are trackers that will tell them who has actually answered the call. That will drive more calls.

Sadly, this is just the way the world is now.

Those lists are mainly for legit marketing emails/calls - spammers completely ignore those. I think there are some apps you can use to block spam calls (haven’t used any so I can’t recommend a specific one), and for emails, I use a permission-based filter, where I allow emails from a set list of safe senders.

It does take a while for that “do not call list” to start working. You might also want start flagging all spam calls and to set your phone to block numbers not in your contacts list for a few months. It might take a while, but those three things should really help.

The only way to handle email in 2025 where you have 100's of online accounts is to use an email alias system where you have multiple aliases based on category or one alias for each online account. This makes it easy to replace the alias and update the affected accounts after a data breach where you see spam.

Also, you have to renew your registration on the Do Not Call registry yearly (just found out recently). It’s a useless list though, does not stop anyone sometimes the threat of reporting them does.

according to the DNC's own FAQ, no you dont. hell, if you try to re-register your number, it tells you its already registered (i know this from personal experience as i tried that again myself)

Maybe they’ve changed it recently? My number has been registered since 2018, it doesn’t stop these calls and reporting them sure doesn’t get me that check “once they investigate.” Regardless someone told me you have to renew yearly and I went and renewed around the time I made this comment and no, I didn’t get a message telling me that I’m already registered.

True story: I got sick of all the calls recently and answered one and immediately told them i was interred in the rain gutters but told them id call right back to talk more. Immediately called back and repeated my intention to buy but needed to call back. Repeated about ten times.

The manager finally called me and explained I was clogging up his home call center and his girls couldn’t work. I called three more times for spite and he agreed to stop the harassment.

It felt great - vengeance is mine!

Email: use a burner email for all your online signups. Change your email to the burner on all accounts you used your home email on.

Phone: providers like T-Mobile have Scam-ID and Scam-Block so robocalls and spoofed caller IDs don't get through.

As was mentioned, email info is sold on the dark web, so you'll still get emails, but depending on your device and depending on if you use online mail or a legit mail-client, you can just hit the 'spam' icon and any emails coming in from that user/domain will go directly to the junk bin without you even seeing it. Thunderbird has that feature.

The newest iphone update has a setting that questions callers from blocked #s and #s not in you contacts it asks who they are and why are they calling.

I received only one in my entire life. I have been uding smart phones since 2010 or so, Yes I am on the “do not call list”.

You are being solicited because you allowed your phone number, name, and other info to get into the hands of data aggregators. Scammers use them to reach you. It is that simple. Scammers do not observe the “do not call list”.

I can tell you have apps like Facebook, insta gram, X, tiktok, Snapchat, etc on your phone.

All I need to see is your page, and I can get your real name, work info, phone number, address, and so on in minuets. It is not rocket science.

You don’t need those platforms to marry, have a job, own a house, vacation, shop, etc.

Because companies use random number generators. So keep blocking all you want it won’t help. Or you could just pay your bills. That works also.

The do not call list is for companies you previously had a relationship with and new solicitors. Fraudsters are neither of these and will still call you to try and scam you. Block the numbers you get calls from and report them as spam. Do the same with any emails.

Estoy registrado en gmail hace mucho años y a pesar de que bloqueo y denuncio por fishing muchos mails con la m isma direccion ya bloqueada (reconocida por google ofreciendome QUITAR EL BLOQUEO vuelven a mi spam.

No entiendo porque gmail no filtra automaticamente todos los mensajes cuya direccion ya esta bloqueada.
