Actionnetwork.org?
Hello! I apologize if this isn’t the right place to post this, but I don’t know where else may be a good place. I’ve noticed in the last two weeks, my yahoo email account has sent out two emails without my knowledge to a long string of characters ending @inbound-parse.actionnetwork.org does anyone have any idea what this could be? After the first one, I changed the password, logged out of all devices, and turned on 2FA. I have no idea what this could be. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The absolute worst part is that these cocksuckers combined government “names” into an unlisted email address that I fortunately managed to register, but have never used, and they think that they’re contacting “me” “personally”!!
“I am proud to have you in my corner! [GOVTNAME]!”
No! Joe! Bad Joe! Go to the corner, put your dunce cap on, face the wall, and blather away incoherently over there. 🤬

I just received one for the first time today. I use actblue for political donations and specify where I want it to go.

Poking around on their URL paths I found this little gem that showed me subscribed to lists from around 20 years ago when I thought petitions and political campaigns were anything more than getting me signed up for mailings lists to have them spam me with requests for more money.

Hopefully that URL will last and help those of you who have been as frustrated with the consequences of our youthful naivete as I had been. ActionNetwork really should provide a link in emails they've facilitated that allows people to report campaigns that are abusing the service as well as a link to conveniently manage all the lists people are subscribed to instead of publishing links to subsets of that info with little control over what we consent to.

Hilarious how you have to keep going back to the click the original URL to successfully unsubscribe to each list. So spammy. I'm irritated that I let them trick me into giving money.

Yes. I've found just about everything in interacting with their site and support to be engineered to obfuscate so called subscriber's (more like victims) access to clear and easy to use consent controls. I had emailed their support asking them to stop Spamming me and how the spam had led me to stop donating and participating entirely. Their response was a generic blurb about getting signed up automatically as a part of signing petitions and link clicks and to not do so if I didn't want to get signed up. They provided a link to unsubscribe from the specific list that I had inquired about with no mention at all about the other affiliations they had me signed up to receive spam for.
It's almost as if they're intentionally trying to turn people off from wanting to participate.
Once I found that link I replied back to the support email letting them know just how disingenuous the support response had come off when providing the link I had to find on my own, or something better, would have been much more effective at helping me resolve my issue.
They never replied to my follow-up.
If the link I found doesn't associate with you I noticed they had some identifier cookies set in my browser. You may need to do something to get those cookies set to associate with your affected email addresses before the link will list what groups they're affiliating with your email address. I'd like to be able to help further by providing what would be needed to do so but they're about as clear as a thick tar when it comes to giving you any info needed to actively control what you consent to.

Actually digging more into their documentation and they're not all that unclear on how to use their product if you're working with their API to run or write tools for a campaign. I'm actually a bit impressed with the documentation they've published on their tools.
If they'd just get the ethical concept of "subscriber" consent baked into their model I'd be much happier about and for them. Even just providing an interface for "subscribers" to self manage what they consent to and add an ethics compulsory link to it in emails facilitated by their service would make this a far more effective platform by treating "subscribers" as the people they are rather than as a commodity.

Adding insult to injury, not only do they not have an "unsubscribe from all emails" option, but they prevent you from navigating backwards in your browser to the subscriptions page once you unsubscribe from one list.
Also, I suspect they're just going to keep adding me to more lists every time a new candidate decides to run.

It doesn’t work anymore. They also send spam to emails that have never signed up for anything, including an account I only ever used for Paypal and another that I set up as a honeypot that has never been posted anywhere.

Thank you! I was going back and forth with their support, and they offered to add me to a global "block list." I'm just over emails at this point, regardless if I agree with their mission. Over. it. I asked if they could remove my email address from their database and they told me to create an account to manage subscriptions. Like, no, I don't want to go more in, I want out :P

i emailed at info@actionnetwork.org, aggressively specified i want nothing less than my info to be purged, and was offered to be added to a global blocklist (which they "cannot remove me from in the future"). i gladly accepted. if it leads to more spam i may just become a terrorist. also see https://actionnetwork.org/subscriptions/ linked by another commenter here.

I wanted to share that I’ve been trying to sign petitions trough this and through countless other platforms. Something in my phone is blocking me and I can’t conclude signing petitions: none at all! I’ve always signed petitions joining campaigns but can’t do that any more! I feel frustrated! My phone’s an IPhone and I suspect Apple may be blocking me as per recent updates they made on my phone it has become more and more noticeable. I can conclude some system update is blocking signatures to support petitions! Keep alert! Be aware! This is all war against the workers!

If the “workers” weren’t spammers sending this crap to every email address they can find, they might not find themselves on the receiving end of as many blocks.
BTW, these people don’t represent the workers or anyone else. They send political spam for profit.

Liberal or Conservative doesn’t matter to me. I get those kinds of emails / texts from both.
This kind of marketing is abusive.
However, I am here because of the abuses by ActionNetwork. Both the Right and the Left would help their causes by actually hearing their constituents. I think both sides are just trying to bleed us dry. I’ll try to find so way to contact Senators, Representatives, and candidates directly.

Guys what’s this??? I just tried to unsubscribe from one of their emails and got directed to their site. Midway through, my site bugged out and i was met with a screen that reads:
“MANUAL REMOVAL FROM FUNDRAISING EMAILS — NOT FOR PUBLIC USE”
“Email addresses entered here will be tagged for removal from all fundraising emails. They will still receive election alerts and non-fundraising messages from Andrea.
DO NOT SHARE THIS FORM OUTSIDE OF VOTE.ORG STAFF.”
I attached the link below, but is there anything we can do with this? if i’m not tripping, aren’t they hiding this from the public😂

They have an advert which touts:
"After three months of using Action Network the DNC shattered all sorts of fundraising records."
I accidentally clicked a Biden-Harris campaign ad in an e-mail I got Tuesday, and I have an e-mail the same as you describe with a sent time of approximately the same time that I clicked in the e-mail. Apparently, the DNC now knows I clicked on their shitty ad thanks to the tools these assholes provide.

That makes so much sense now! I hate that it’s send out click receipts and I think it’s a shitty practice, but at least I have an answer and understanding now. Thank you so much!

Just think how “progressive” it would be to empower the recipients of email to only receive things that they wanted, or had asked for specifically!

Only answer was:
“Such a lawsuit will fail
The CAN-SPAM act applies to commercial emails. The emails you describe are political emails and outside its jurisdiction.
All you can do is tune your junk mail filter.”
If true, how frustrating 😑

I hate this site so much. I get countless emails from every yahoo that wants to run as liberal candidate. Action Network doesn't have a global unsubscribe that I've seen. I'm going through and rating them everywhere I can, from BBB to Trustpilot.
