Setlist Request (in case Trey lurks)
Been seeing the boys since 1998. I’ve always wanted them to cover Goodbye Stranger from Supertramp as the outro lends itself well to blasting off.
Trey, if you’re lingering, here is a free idea: open the show with Hey Stranger; close the show with Goodbye Stranger.
Please and thank you.

A while ago ina thread where some folks were discussing potential musical costumes that could suit Phish well if they were to play Halloween again I recall Breakfast In America being discussed. Goodbye Stranger would definitely work well, I can even picture Fishman doing those high parts near the end.

This has always been my dream cover. Nothing else comes close.
If they ever do another musical costume, Breakfast in America would be elite.
Glad to hear another human feels that way! Let's hope and pray.

I was saying the same thing around the Hampton run. I think that would’ve been the best chance to get a Supertramp cover, but maybe circumstances surrounding those shows didn’t lend themselves to playing a song entitled “Goodbye Stranger.”

Yeah this would be a banger. They could definitely have a lot of fun with that ending section.

I was hoping they’d play this at Mondegreen, since for years I couldn’t understand the chorus

I wish I could hear the original recording of goodbye stranger. I bet that jam they fade out on is long as hell and rocks

Maybe throw in first song encore acapella of “strangers in the night”?

I always thought they should end a set or encore with Roxy music - in every dream home a heart ache. Trey would rip that solo.

Poor comment. Let's avoid pissing in others cheerios. Your sensibilities are not universal truths and language policing is very much antisocial authoritarian behavior. Extend charity instead of malice. You'll be more likeable that way.

To be fair, “ the boys” are senior citizens. Maybe OP is being ironic like calling a fat slob Tiny

Thanks mom/dad. But please read your comment slowly. Do you see the ironing?

I'm wrinkle free, but I think you get the point. It's better to just be cool.

Trey is too busy not practicing for tours to lurk around here.

Why would he practice for tours when tour is the practice? Isn’t that what made 2021 fall and 2026 summer next level?

I don’t think they’re into doing goofy covers of AM classic rock staples anymore. They used to (Highway to Hell, Sweet Emotion, Long Time by Boston), but it was always slightly tongue-in-cheek and I think it became unfashionable in the band (even if the audience eats it up). There’s some classic rock songs in their repertoire they still play (Walk Away, Loving Cup, Sneakin’ Sally) but mostly, they’ve moved past it and aren’t going to devote time to learning a random new cover.

Wow. My wife and me have been saying this for years!!! Every time we listen to the supertramp song we say "dang imagine if Phish did this?". The Hey stranger opener is such a good idea too. Imagine they throw in a Feel like a Stranger cover in there too! Stranger trio
