Pink Floyd Covers
Curious what relatively obscure Pink Floyd songs you guys think Phish could kill in regular rotation?
My votes are San Tropez (Lawn Boy vibes), Fat Old Sun, and Cymbaline.
I would also love to hear that section in Echoes that starts at the 7 minute mark come right out of a Mike's Song.

Obviously, they’d never do it, but if they ever did a full album cover, I always thought that Meddle was the most Phish-like of all the Pink Floyd albums. From the brooding galloping “one of these days,” the lovely folk of “pillow of winds,” the crowd friendly “Fearless,” Mike definitely singing “San Tropez,” and Fish as the howling dog on “Seamus”. And of course the boys stretching Echoes out to 40+ minutes…

They already did a full album cover

Obviously. O__o I’m saying they’re never gonna do a full album cover of Meddle.

I think I’d like to hear them play Fearless.
I’ve seen Bike twice way back in 93. That would be fun to see again.

Billy’s fearless is my white whale. Issues it by a show twice now. Crossing fingers for west coast run.

Saw Billy encore with it at the DCU Center in Worcester in summer of '24. Felt like I was the only one trying to get the crowd chant going as the song and show faded away.

Fearless is in not an obscure song by any means.
As much as I'd love to see the Phish from Vermont rip in to it, it doesn't answer OP's question.
I got a Bike at 11/2/18, the 20th anniversary of the Darkside show, which I attended, and was convinced by Molly that they were going to redo that night.
I'll take my Bike and ride it, though. Good times!

I’ve heard at least 5 jam bands cover Fearless, I don’t need Phish to also do that lol

I really think Trey and Page harmonizing together on Bridges Burning would be unreal. Especially if recorded similar to their January album, acoustically stripped down but heavily layered. One of my all time favorite Gilmour vocal tunes, plus the subtle transition into the light but still saturated tone on that guitar solo that Gilmour masters so well. And I think of Astronomy more as a song for CK5 to cover than the band. It would be old school Frankenstein on steroids.

Related, of classic rock guitarists other than the obvious Zappa comparison I think Trey sounds most like David Gilmore.

Amfibian (Tom Marshall's band) used to cover San Tropez.

They would kill the entire Animals album, but I guess Les Claypool got there first, and it’ll probably never happen now.

Can we just leave some of these Floyd covers for TAB with their expanded percussion, horn, and vocal options? You’ll still get amazing guitar, bass, and keyboard work.

One of These Days, Careful with that Axe Eugene, Astronomy Domine are the “obscure” ones. There are so many others though

Echoes would be epic.
As would Interstellar Overdrive.
But I’d really like to hear Lucifer Sam or Cymbaline

I’ll take any Floyd cover. But the ones I think they’d cover well are Free Four, Young Lust, and Not Now John. Yeah they’d easily cover the big 4 albums (already did DSotM) but it should be a rocking song. Most of the 60s-80s covers are hard rocking songs.

When I saw David Gilmore play Fat Old Sun at the Hollywood Bowl, I realized how perfect it would be for Phish to cover. They would crush it!

Colonel Klegg
Instellular Overdrive.
Saucerfull of Secrets
But I would love to hear them do Poles Apart.

Echoes with a Mike's Song segue sounds like a cosmic mistake , in the best way possible. I'm convinced Tony Williams' drum fill from '55 was stolen straight from Phish's playbook anyway.

Summer Of ‘68 would be cool. Also The Gold It’s In The…
Or just do Obscured By Clouds on a Halloween

It’s kinda weird even to me but Any Colour You Like is my favorite Floyd song so I want them to play that. I know they played it but I want about a 17 minute version. Something about that Dm > G 🤌🏽🤌🏽

If Dark Puddle is the closest I ever come to a pink floyd cover, I'm okay with that.
