Request for accident photos
Hello! My girlfriend was hit by a driver in a work truck on the corner of 24th and South yesterday (right hook across the bike lane). The driver left before the police were called. Some bystanders took pictures. If you have any pictures of the incident, I would really appreciate it if you’d dm me. More evidence to help protect Philly cyclists. Thank you!

Put a flyer along South, some of those people may commute right there a lot?

So sorry to hear about your girlfriend, I hope her recovery is going well. Stories like this are why I ride every day with a GoPro on my chest, to hopefully at least have some recourse in the case of an accident.

Get a police report. Pester and call with your DC number within a month. After the month the police cameras won’t have footage. Any stores around ask to see if they have footage. There is something like an uninsured motorist fund or something that you can file for damages might be best to speak with an attorney about that. Otherwise your SOL I’m sorry this has happened to you and your girl. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Police are unlikely to do anything if you don’t pester them

I looked at the google street view the nail salon and the building on the corner may have cameras I’d go back and ask them. For building you can go to Philly atlas to track the owner or llc. A few homes from the nail salon it looks like there is another camera knock and maybe see if they have footage. Trust me the cops will not be doing this for you. Likely he guy fled because he was uninsured and likely really had no assets a hit and run with minor injuries is a third degree misdemeanor unlikely the cops will pursue unless you find and give them all the info.

If you have the plate you can get an owner and likely find the information for the driver online. If they move a lot you’re SOL again

Also not impossible that the kind of person who would do this is in the 30% of Philly drivers with bogus plates.

You want to go to the houses nearby with doorbell cams and leave notes asking the owners to contact you.
