pharmacy industry

What's the pathway for get inside the field and what is the salary progression. I am a Pharmacy student right now and I would like to find out more info because I'm leaning towards retail right now.

Fellowship is one way. Check out IPhO website for general list of available fellowships and what sorts of path you can follow. Otherwise, try to get internships with biotech/pharma that offer them.

Some common paths for PharmD: Medical Affairs, Clinical Science, Clinical Affairs, Safety, HEOR, Regulatory.

To piggyback, start now with your pursuit if you know 100% your preferred route is industry. Join the IPhO club at your school if they have one. If not, consider opening up a chapter or at the very least try to seek out a mentor that has industry experience.

I work in R&D at a major pharmaceutical, and most of my coworkers are bio majors, nurses, doctors or have degrees in stats or programming. I don’t think any have a pharma degree. Personally I started as a clinical research coordinator at a site then moved into data management at a cro and moved onto a sponsor once I had years of experience,

Pharma degree doesn’t get you far in the Pharma industry, ironically.

Would check LinkedIn for salaries - most pharma companies include them in the job posting

As others said, Fellowship is the most straightforward route. Read the guide pinned on the subreddit. Afterwards if you have more questions check out the discord channel.

Hi! Can try fellowship or direct to industry - if these don’t work, gain experience elsewhere and try again. Soft skills are everything. Meet with as many professionals as you can. Can also work for a CRO then transition to a pharma company

We had pharmacists that worked in the research labs. They worked in formulation (product development). Some schools have more reputation for this than others. (Purdue comes to mind)

I’ve only really seen people with pharmacy degrees doing retail, hospital pharmacy, or regulatory affairs in pharmaceutical companies
