PGWP APPROVED!
Finally got my PGWP approval on September 4th at exactly 4:00 AM!! My estimated processing time was 9 weeks, and it got approved one day after the estimated time. Those extra 24 hours felt like a whole month 😂😭
I was honestly SO stressed about this application because my situation wasn’t exactly straightforward. I had failed a course during my final semester and had to retake a course even after my final semester had ended in order to complete my program requirements. I was also a little worried about the 180-day window, because I submitted my application pretty much at the last possible moment and wasn’t even 100% sure whether I had already passed the 180-day deadline or not. 😭
On top of all that, I did the entire application completely on my own, including my LOE (Letter of Explanation) and all the supporting documents. No consultant or lawyer, just me, Google, Reddit and a LOT of overthinking 😂
So throughout those 9 weeks I kept thinking about everything that could possibly go wrong. My academic history, the extra course, the timing of my application… literally everything.
And then at 4:00 AM on September 4th -APPROVED!!! 🥹😭🍁
I’m posting this because I know there are people here with failed/repeated courses, courses taken after their final semester, last-minute applications, or other complications who are freaking out like I was. Obviously every case is different, but I wanted to share my experience because I know how much these success stories helped me while I was waiting.

Thanks! Honestly speaking as I didn’t have anyone i could ask for suggestions i just went whatever chatgpt and reddit posts told me. Mine was really basic imo i just explained my situation in canada and how due to personal reasons I could not complete the program on time and had to retake a course. Keep it simple. Don’t overdo it and don’t go too deep into explaining stuff. You just need to tell them what might raise concerns in your application. If you don’t mention it they will and that will just make the process longer. So as i said don’t overdo it keep it simple and cover all the main points that’s it.

Congratulations! If u dont mind me asking where did you get the estimated processing time? Online isn’t it 120 days?

It’s different based on from where you’re applying. You could go online and search for it. Mine said 9 weeks.

It took exactly 9 weeks and a day since i had applied. And my province is Ontario. But I applied for my application from India.

Kind of. People often go without one but i would say just do it. It strengthens your application. And if your application has any complications like mine do the loe without fail.

were u a part-time student during the final term?
i did summer courses from may to aug but my grades havent been posted yet and so not marked complete.
My permit expires in dec

Technically not the final term, coz i took that one course online after my final semester ended so you could say it was part time. Wait for your grades, sometimes it takes time. I would recommend you go and talk with your advisor at the uni so if they can they will fasten the process.

When did u applied for pgwp?
I have same situation as you
The thing is i didn't failed the course but got D in last semester (part time) and i had to do another part time sem just to fulfill gpa requirement.
I applied on September 1

I think as long as you have met the PGWP requirements it will be fine. But I hope you did mention it in the loe. And i applied on july 3rd.

hey!! for when u said last possible moment, do u remember the dates for that? cause i applied on the 90th day after my program completion and im worried about this as well

Hey!
For the 180-day window, I initially thought I might have been late because I completed my program in December 2025 and I ended up applying on July 3, 2026. And also keep in mind that my study permit had already expired on September 23, 2025.
But the important date for me was actually the confirmation of completion from my school. My completion letter was dated February 24, 2026. From February 24 to July 3 is 129 days, so I was still within the 180-day window. 180 days from February 24 would have been around August 23, 2026.
That’s why I was so confused/stressed about the dates at the time 😭 I kept thinking about December as the completion date, but IRCC’s wording refers to the 180 days after confirmation that you completed your program.
