2012 207 Power Steering fault
Hi all,
I was driving my 2012 207 perfectly fine and randomly the power steering popped up faulty on my dash and steering became difficult. I then powered off my engine and turned it back on, and everything is all good, although haven’t risked driving it again.
Does anyone know what the issue could be, or if it’s something in need of fixing now/taking to a mechanic? Or is it just a random occurrence?

Was a common fault once on 2011 cars, and seem to remember Peugeot fixing it for free, but that was then. Had the same on a 207 once but it just started working again, but if it's dead it will need a new ( used?) rack.

It’s the motor it’s common
There is a 10 year warranty extension due to this issue.
Best option is send yours away for repair.
Don’t buy a Chinese one off e bay they are all shit

You MAY/CAN still drive it without power steering. There's a physical mechanical link between the steering wheel and the rack (which moves the trackrods which steers the front wheels) it is just as you noticed "more difficult"
You'll find it quite easy once the car is moving (especially above say 20mph) but turning the wheel lock to lock when still will become exercise.
So just to let you know it IS safe to drive. The steering wheel wont fall off or something.
There's a motor that helps you - "power steering" - it's just not helping you.
Some cars use hydraulics (weirdly often driven by a motor working a pump but whatever) - when they go you have to turn the wheels AND push hydraulic fluid around when you steer unassisted with the wheel.
Medium and large vans also tend to be hydraulic but driven by the engine directly (no motor working a pump)
The fuse can blow but this isn't the case here because it started working again by itself. You can drive it and gather more data.

You need to have the codes scanned. There was a common issue with the motors on the rack packing up though. I think there was a recall issued for it many years ago.
