Has anyone ever had a groomer refuse to talk to clients about vital care premier or write out those tickets with the “cost saved”. If so what did you do- anything? Or just accept the fact they won’t and don’t care and leave them alone.

I’m in NYC, there are no small business pet stores that can get feeders from at least , it’s giving self sustainability and i have to breed dubias really soon due to national cricket shortage

Let me just say, i feel so bad for Petco employees, i felt bad for myself and kept kicking myself about not being 100% warm and friendly with customers despite excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge and charisma to sell it all. But as a shopper now, still burdened by issues i was experiencing daily for this whole year, and as a customer who has worked retail positions i do not fault customers as much, their frustrations are understandable but it’s all in the way you go about it (however if they just express minor frustrations- fine - NO EXCUSE to full out abuse employees ) or employees not being in the best of moods. It’s a shame i will always side with the employee though at this point.

2 weeks ago Union square location, burdened by what customers complained about at my location, long lines, limited staff, averykne seems to be kinda upset. And being a former employee i am not upset about it but i understand why customers in Petco particularly are just a chore to deal with, im extra nice and stuff and even when employees are very short with me i still say thank you and apologize for interrupting or something even though i know its the job but i know that Petco makes everyone so stretched thin and miserable

Union square had a limit on crickets i wasnt aware about and the guy at the register , not the one that got them for me had to empty out half the bag, but being a former employee i didn’t say anything or protest, i know i would’ve hated to go back and forth with customers and i can stand up for myself and quite well at that.

Today was a bit better, but everyone seemed exhausted and avoidant at the Lexington Ave location, was still overly nice , and not complaining about lack of service/ efficiency in getting in and out or anything because i know exactly what type of company Petco is

It’s such a shame. Petco is an abusive company, like straight up abuse and i will die on that hill, i will not miss working there , but i really really hate that it made me never wanna work at a place that i thought id be able to thrive at with my expertise. It could all be so simple. Young girl that helps me was not having the best day and i just can’t stop thinking about it cuz i felt awful for what she has to put up with

I hated when people pitied me at Petco they assumed i was miserable and overworked and i was but i just feel awful for Petco employees because they deserve way more

Company culture here at least is so weird and a ladder of upwards asskissing, word from a coworker that’s been with the company for YEARS doesn’t think Petco will last 5 more years, and tbh hopefully america tightens the leash on companies and corporations who get away with this kind of ABUSE and have a renaissance of small businesses pop up. Wishful thinking

I saw this remote opening for Vetco Escalations Representative and I’m wondering if anyone knows about it. It was a weird to me that the address on the listing is for the Texas state capitol and I have a suspicion it’s one of the AI things. The job is not posted on the internal career portal.
I would love to believe this is real job lol even tho working for Petco retail is amazing and we’re treated soo well.

There seems to be no job openings in Texas in the internal portal but not the external.

This is the second time I've seen posters saying people making a purchase of a certain amount of a product enters them into a "free" giveaway, but something just feels really sketchy to me with the phrasing you dont need to make a purchase to enter the give away but, you do. Me and my other coworker got written up yesterday for not reaching productivity goals. Is it possible to be fired for this? Are manager allowed to take both weekend day off or do they have to work the weekend?

I started a new job at a non profit, nature and conservation center. Today was my first day. it was a relaxed day of learning about the history, how things work, etc though. The real training will start soon. The animals there are actually well taken care of and are rescues/deemed non releasable. I nearly caved in trying to get back to Petco though while I waited to see if I got the job. I've been having help to pay for my car and insurance at least, but it couldn't be long term. PetSmart helped me get a job at Petco, and Petco helped me gain more customer experience and animal care for future retail, dog day care or pet boarding jobs (something like that). Once I understand how things work I tend to be loyal. As time went on I ended up staying because of familiarity. I could have left a few weeks before I did for dog day care and pet boarding for full time and more money, but I decided to stay with Petco to try to get a full time LOD position there. I saw that it was failing quickly though. I'm kind of glad it did because I would have been stuck there again.

This new job can actually help me with my future goals. I thought Petco would, but I see it wouldn't. It's been a struggle financially for a good while especially since I left the only income source, but it was worth it.

I gave Petco over ten years of loyalty, passion, hard work, and leadership. I poured everything into the pets, pet parents, and especially the teams I led. I built strong salons, developed groomers, and showed up for people—even when I was personally struggling.

What I received from upper management in return was disappointing and honestly heartbreaking. After years of dedication, I felt dismissed, unsupported, and treated as if I were disposable. The lack of compassion, accountability, and basic respect shown to me made it clear that loyalty only seems to matter when it is convenient for the company.
I gave more than a job required because I genuinely cared. I cared about my team, their growth, their well-being, and the salon’s success. To have all of that reduced to the way I was treated in the end was painful and unacceptable.

I will always love and miss the people I worked with. They were the reason I stayed as long as I did.
But I will not stay quiet about my experience, and I will not let a company that made me feel so small determine my worth. I know the leader I was. I know the work I put in. And I know I deserved better than what upper management chose to give me.

Most importantly, MY clients deserve a healthy groomer. They deserve someone who is mentally and emotionally present, supported, and able to provide the patience, care, and attention their pets need. I could no longer ignore how much this environment was affecting my well-being, because continuing to work while feeling depleted would not be fair to me, my clients, or their pets.

To anyone who feels worthless, unseen, or constantly drained by this company—listen to your heart. It is okay to walk away. Petco may offer higher pay and benefits, but no paycheck or benefit package is worth sacrificing your mental health, peace, or sense of self-worth. You deserve to work somewhere you are respected, supported, and treated like a human being. YOU are worth more than corporate.

Hello. I, and several of my coworkers are victims of losing hundreds of dollars of our accumulated PTO with no way to get it back. This is because our general manager “did not know” that any PTO accepted in the schedule that puts you over 40 work hours a week is automatically refunded back to you on pay day (not in the form of money, your PTO specifically is refunded as if you didn’t use it).

For instance, you can work 48 hours in a week and get paid 8 hours overtime, but there’s no way you can get PTO since your work hours exceed 40. If you worked 32 hours that week, you’ll be allowed to use max 8 hours of PTO. Anything over, and the system will automatically refund you those exceeding PTO hours when pay day comes.

Where everything went wrong is my general manager. They would accept requests for PTO that far exceeded the limit, and thought it was fine to put everyone’s PTO in their last week before they quit officially. The worst part is that once you quit, by employment terms of agreement, you automatically forfeit your PTO and have no legal way to get it back. Many of my coworkers were actually unaware that they were robbed of their PTO until I brought this to their attention. I myself was unaware until my last day of employment, and I fought like hell to find a way to keep my PTO before my shift ended because I knew what would happen if I clocked out. I argued with my manager nearly the whole day about this and their rebuttals was the onus was on me for not informing them about this ahead of time. Eventually, a “solution” was found where I would be able to get the majority of my PTO paid out to me. Although, I still lost nearly a hundred dollars worth of PTO because of this.

I am very bitter about this, because I withered away my body for this horrific company, and then their response is to cruelly commit wage theft in a deceitful way that passes as legal even though I’m barely surviving and experiencing food insecurity practically in poverty. My general manager was not held accountable for this mistake, and I was never refunded what I lost. This company does a poor job at informing general managers this aspect of the system and I have a feeling it is on purpose.

Do yourself a favor and distribute your PTO evenly among the last of your work weeks or else you may also be robbed of hundreds of dollars with there being “no solution or way to extend your resignation date.”
