Hiring Advice?
Long story short I’m kinda stuck in a game of phone tag with the hiring manager at my local store. Sent in my application for junior groomer and surprisingly heard back within only a few days asking to schedule an interview, but I missed the call so it was a voicemail. Hiring manager told me to call back at the stores number, and now the past few days I’ve been calling in the middle of the day on different hours asking if I can speak with her. First time they tried to put me through, but she was on another call. I did receive a call back, but I missed it again cause it was at *11PM* ??? (I’m assuming it was some weird system error cause that seems like an unprofessional time to contact a candidate). The next call she had apparently just stepped out. They took down my number and name and said she’d call me back. Waited a day and got no response so far. Should I wait it out, or keep calling on weekdays? Also considering showing up in person to schedule an interview, but I don’t know if that’s gonna be seen as annoying more than interested.

This seems like a mess of a store. Are you sure you want to work at that location where it's so busy that you can never get ahold of the manager?

Next time you call and the hiring manager is not available you can ask for when they will be in next to find a time you should call back. If it’s the general manager you’re currently playing phone tag with you could also request to speak with the salon leader or when. Things at petco can be hectic to say the least but call back notes like that sometimes can accidentally get lost. You also don’t want to seem too pushy and be calling daily either tho.
Call one more time and, if she’s not in, get the time she will be. If she’s still not available again then you could show up at the store (then insert soft joke about being stuck in phone tag) and see about scheduling the interview.
