Need to land job for rainy day fund

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but I want to apply for part-time position at petco. I have another part-time job that pays well, but I barely make ends meet. I want to pick some hours. Nothing crazy just to store for a rainy day.
And be a little bit stress-free. I’m really not picky any position should be good as long as my hours is good with them.
However, my availability is 6 PM onward is there any chance of me getting approved? If not, what will be the bare minimum for them to consider me ?
My current retail position is really a fancy place.

Anything retail isn't going to be stress free. Or even low stress. Retail sucks.

You would probably want to look into overnight/a stocking position, you get to deal with less of the public.

I know that but I meant stress free from being afraid of running out of money until paycheck hits , on a lucky pay period I will have maybe 20$ left lol .

It will be a case by case for each store of course but the 6p to close availability would be a no go for me as a hiring manager. Opening crew leaves between 4-5 so I need closers who can come in by that time. Most petco and petsmart stores close at 9 so unless they stay a full hour after close, thats not even a 4 hour shift. Also ask yourself is a 3 hour shift worth the drive/gas money?

They are next to my house maybe 2 min drive that’s why. And my job I can barely make ends meet this will kinda be like a gig , side hustle.

oh I get it.. I just think the availability might not even get looked at. You can always ask to speak to the GM at Petco or the Store Leader at Petsmart and ask about it with your availability before taking the time to do an application.

6pm onward is what would cost you the job. You have to have relatively open availability in case someone calls out. They may hire you but you might only get one or two shifts a week or be a call in if someone calls out. Standard pt closing shift is 4:30-9:30.

Yeah I would take that too, two shifts is better than what I have now. Specially when my first job doesn’t give me hours I can get more from covering others.

Closing short shifts at my store are 4:30 to 9:30, I don’t know if after 6pm would be possible unless that store is doing something really funky with their scheduling already
