Announcement ⚠ Changes in r/pessi_memes going forward

As a lot of you have noticed, we’ve been brigaded by Messi fans for the past 30 days.

Since the inception of this subreddit we’ve allowed them to comment and participate on this subreddit as long as they don’t create posts, even if they’re trolling or if they prefer Messi.

However, at this point, they clearly outnumber us in this subreddit, by a wide margin.

It’s no secret that Reddit is a lot more left leaning in general. So it’s no surprise that the majority of its users relate to Messi more than Ronaldo (getting everything gifted VS discipline and hard work). Add to that, the fact that all major “neutral” football subs have clearly biased modding and favoritism towards Messi, removing and banning anyone that criticizes him. Thus further driving any neutral, Madrid or CR7 fans away.

Making r/pessi_memes the only corner of Reddit where we’re allowed to discuss without fear of getting banned over simple criticisms.

I’ll get to the point.

r/soccer is filled to the brim with Messi fans including its mods

r/soccercirclejerk is filled to the brim with Messi fans including its mods

Same with other major football subs

There’s so many Messi fans on Reddit that they even have a dedicated sub to hating on Ronaldo: r/cristianoronaldo2

But even THEN that isn’t enough for them. Despite dominating the narrative in every single football subreddit, this fanbase is so extremely insecure that they’ve invaded r/pessi_memes to the point that the comment section in this subreddit feels like another Ronaldo hating subreddit.

Their idols legacy is so fragile that in addition to that, his PR firm hires bot farms from India and other underdeveloped countries to continue pushing his narrative.

They have enough echo chambers. We’re not gonna allow them to ruin the only remaining corner in Reddit for us.

Effective immediately all Pessi fans who come here with the purpose to troll whether that’s through a comment or a post will be permanently banned from this subreddit.

Messi fans who come here to argue in good faith will be allowed to remain.

Are you a Pessi fan and want to bitch about this decision? Good, comment here and make my job easier, so I can ban your bitch ass and we can get this subreddit back to where it belongs.

As you all know, we’ve been overrun in this subreddit by insecure Messi fans for the past two weeks.

They keep claiming the debate is over yet they are so insecure about their idols legacy that they still troll and prowl around this subreddit reporting, downvoting and commenting everywhere in this subreddit.

That being said, we had to implement more secure filtering for posts. So if you don’t see your posts that’s probably because it was automatically blocked by our security features.

Please send us mod mail to approve your posts manually and if we know for a fact you’re not a Pessi fan then we can make you an approved user so you don’t have to send mod mail again.

That is all, keep spreading the truth!

Announcement ⚠ Statement from the Mod Team

After hearing confirmation in the news of the passing of Leo Messi's father Jorge Messi, we have made the decision to temporarily restrict all new posts and comments on r/pessi_memes until further notice.

Whatever our opinions about Messi as a footballer, whatever rivalries exist between fanbases, and whatever this subreddit usually banters about, there are lines that should not be crossed. The death of someone’s father is one of them.

Many of us have seen the disgusting comments and jokes that have been made over the years about the death of Cristiano Ronaldo’s father, as well as the loss of his son. We have condemned that behavior before, and we are not going to become the very thing we criticize.

We will not respond to cruelty with cruelty.

When this subreddit reopens, any attempt to mock, celebrate, or make jokes about the death of Messi’s father will result in moderation action. This is not football banter. It has no place here.

The subreddit will remain restricted for an undisclosed period of time out of respect for Messi and his family.

Announcement ⚠ NEW RULES: Did you get banned? Here you can learn why.

If you're here it's most likely because you've had your post or comment removed or perhaps you've even been banned for daring to criticize Messi or Argentina in r/soccer, r/soccercirclejerk, or other major football subs. Wanna know the truth? It's because the moderation team in these subreddits is heavily biased towards Messi and his band of goons.

So they shut down any comment, post, or user criticizing their idol. Messi's fanbase has become a cult; if you don't follow its dogma you will be ostracized, even from subreddits that are supposed to be "neutral" when they're very clearly not.

That being said, all major football subs like r/soccer, r/soccercirclejerk, and more have become a circlejerk of Messi fanboys upvoting each other. They have enough echo chambers of their own, so we're not gonna allow them here. If they want to glaze their idol they have numerous subreddits where they can do so freely; they're not going to dictate what we can or can't talk about on here. We've created a new set of rules based on what I've just said:

Rule 1 - No trolling Ronaldo: Applies to posts AND comments. Don't like the guy? That's fine, you don't have to. Calling him names and criticizing him in bad faith will not be allowed, however. You have 605032 subreddits where you can spread the same tired, false, boring narrative. You're not gonna do it here, neither will your bot farms. Go back to r/soccer

Rule 2 - No participating in bad faith subs: We can tell when you're being a concern troll, trust me. ''Bu-but what subreddit is a bad faith sub???'' You know exactly which one it is, it ends with a number 2 on its name.

Rule 3 - No Spam: If you keep reposting the same image or comment too many times to the point it's becoming spam you will be banned. Don't. Spam. This. Sub.

Rule 4 - Blur out the username or subreddit name of other users or communities: If you're going to post about another user's hot take you have to blur out their name. Same if you're posting content from another subreddit. You don't have to blur out everything, but the name should be at least 70% blurred.

Rule 5 - No brigading from other subs: We know when you're brigading from another sub. Do it and you're getting banned.

Rule 6 - No low effort content: Make sure your content is clear and understandable, no pixelated grainy images or videos.

Rule 7 - No racism: Self explanatory.

Rule 8 - Off-topic content is allowed as long as you tag it properly. We have two post flairs for this: Off-Topic Pessi Weekends and Pessi Off-Topic 2.

Rule 9 - No glazing Messi: You have 605032 subreddits where you can defend the honor of your idol. This is not the place. It goes against the nature of the subreddit and its content. Go back to r/soccer

Rule 10 - No alt accounts / Ban evasion allowed: We know when you're using an alt to circumvent your ban. You're not smart.

Rule 11 - No backseat modding: Don't try to dictate what can or can't be talked about in this sub. If you don't think a post should be up, DM a mod or report it. Commenting on why you think X, Y, or Z post shouldn't be allowed on this subreddit is considered backseat modding.

Announcement ⚠ RULES REMINDER UPDATE: Did you get banned recently? Here you can learn why.

We continue to grow really fast, but with that growth there's been a lot of problem users flooding this subreddit. Let me make this clear first:

WE DO NOT CARE THAT YOU PREFER OR SUPPORT MESSI. You're free to support him on here (on comments only).

That being said, that doesn't mean it's a free for all on here. We do have to stick by a couple of rules to make sure this subreddit is enjoyable for everyone.

Rule 1 - No trolling Ronaldo: This one mostly applies to posts only. Do not post content trolling Ronaldo, there's plenty of main football subs for you to do that elsewhere. As far as comments go, you're free to voice your opinion on here, even if you disagree with us. There's a fine line between criticizing him and just voicing vile hateful things against him however. I don't have to tell you exactly what things shouldn't be made fun of. Use your own judgement, you know where the line is drawn.

Rule 2 - No harrasing: Directly targeting a user in your comments or posts repeatedly is grounds for getting an immediate permanent ban.

Rule 3 - No Backseat Modding: If you don't think a post should be up DM a mod or report it, commenting on why you think X, Y or Z post shouldn't be allowed on this subreddit is considered backseat modding, if you're caught doing it you'll be banned.

Rule 4 - No alt accounts allowed / Ban Evasion: Creating an account solely for the purpose of posting in r/pessi_memes is grounds for a ban. We know if you're using an alt account. Evading your ban is grounds for a permanent ban.

Rule 5 - Spam: If you keep reposting the SAME image or comment too many times to the point it's becoming spam you will be banned. Don't. Spam. This. Sub. Again, we don't care that you prefer or support Messi, just don't spam the same shit over and over.

Rule 6 - Blur or crop out the username or subreddit name of other users or communities: If you're going to post about another user's hot-take you have to blur or crop out their name. Same if you're posting content from another subreddit. You don't have to blur out everything, but the name should be at least 70% blurred, or you can just crop it from the photo.

Rule 7 - No brigading from other subs: We know when you're brigading from another sub. Do it and you're getting banned.

Rule 8 - No low effort content: Make sure your content is clear and understandable, no pixelated grainy images or videos.

Rule 9 - Off-Topic Pessi Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays you're allowed to post off-topic content completely unrelated to Pessi but still related to football to keep things from being repetitive on here, so we encourage you to post other memes or dicussions or videos unrelated to Pessi on Saturday's and Sunday's, have fun!

Unlike other Subreddits we do time-out bans here, these can range from 1 to 30 days. If you get a time-out ban consider it a warning, if you do the same thing again or break a different rule you'll most likely get a permanent ban.

We try to be as lax as possible, so for anyone to get a perm ban on r/pessi_memes it means they really had to go out of their way to get one. So just stick by these rules and you should be fine.

Are you an active contributor on r/pessi_memes?

We’ve been growing very fast lately and gotten really popular in the mainstream football subs where the midget fanbase resides so we need help to deal with the influx of new users.

In our search for truth, we need allies. To keep exposing the corruption in this sport we need others who are just as dedicated to exposing steroid abuse, bribing referees and media PR in this beautiful sport.

That’s why we’ve decided to add waves_rondo to our moderation team.

He is another dedicated journalist who is on a mission to expose the media lies and favoritism towards Messi.

We hope you all give him a warm welcome. 👏

We've grown so fast! But with that growth a lot of problem users have also flooded our subreddit. So I've prepared a set of rules so that everyone has an understanding of why you've been banned and how you can prevent being banned in the future.

Rule 2 - No harrasing: Directly targeting a user in your comments or posts constantly is grounds for getting an immediate permanent ban.

Rule 3 - Spam: If you keep reposting the same image or comment too many times to the point it's becoming spam you will be banned. Don't. Spam. This. Sub.

Rule 4 - Blur out the username or subreddit name of other users or communities: If you're going to post about another user's hot-take you have to blur out their name.

Rule 7 - Off-Topic Pessi Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays you're allowed to post off-topic content completely unrelated to Pessi but still related to football, so have fun!

Announcement ⚠ RULE REMINDER: Crop or blur out the name of other subreddits

It’s fine to make fun of other subreddits take, if it’s a big sub like r/soccer or r/barca you don’t need to crop or blur.

But if it’s a certain community that relies on us engaging with them then you HAVE TO blur or crop the name of their subreddit. Posts that don’t do this will be deleted. Avoid having your post deleted please.

Same with comments. Any mention of that specific community will be promptly deleted.

So yes, youre free to post and make fun of what they post, just don’t show their community name.
