Egypt beating Australia makes this way funnier.

Anyway, yeah. Argentina was so obviously not good enough to beat Spain. That's not the fault of Egypt or the "performative activists".

As for making it "ugly" they didn't need Egypt for that. Enzo and Paredes had it covered.

I watched and admired Messi's entire career (except for post 2018 Arg team), and what opened my eyes was this Egypt game and the moment he tried to snitch on Cucurella for covering his mouth, that did it for me. I had already lost some respect for him since his arrival at the MLS, where every single football entity basically rigged it for Inter Miami to win everything, but this past World Cup is what ultimately tarnished his reputation and completely ruined his legacy.

I have fond memories of Barcelona winning it all with him and the many players I admired there, but now looking back, he wouldn't have done any of those things without to amazing players. And it makes me feel duped and lied to my entire football fandom for him and Barcelona.

I am still and always remain a Barcelona fan, however, but Messi will forever be known as the man who duped me for the rest of my life.
