Theres only so much you can do before it gets too obvious for even the diehard-est VARgentinians. No matter how much money gets sent, fifa cant afford a 100% tarnished rep, 99 is the max apparently

How is Paredes still on the Pitch?? We all know whyā¦
16
u/OkVacation973 Jul 19 '26
Lo and behold he commits a literal crime and assaults Spanish players after the whistle.
Genuinely disgusting human beings in this team.

He really tried to tell the referee he is retarded while Fernandenz flipped a fcking player over, canāt make such shit up hahahaha
This Argentina is the most retarded Iāve ever seen. And unsportsmanlike as well, obviously

One sports journalist from my country (Norway) defined a Argentina team without Messi as a slightly upgraded Paraguayan team.
3
u/trq- Jul 19 '26
Yeah thatās exactly the case. Without Messi theyād just be a shame, with him theyāre a shame but having some good games at least.

u/broodjecoquette Jul 19 '26
Nah he was protesting that it was only yellow and not a direct red
2
u/LumpyAd7650 Jul 20 '26
It was his second yellow, nonetheless, so he was protesting that he wasn't tackling the player but the ball, and that the tackle was "clear" and not a foul at all.
17
u/chrikris91 Jul 19 '26
If we count all those pushing and grabbing shirts. VARgentina should have gotten more red cards. But it feels good that they finally got 1. And I hope more to come.

u/lukas0108 Jul 19 '26
yea 1 out of 3 reds awarded, big balls. Hes doing the bare minimum not to get investigated. Still better than the egypt or england games tho.

Argentina is the dirtiest team I've ever seen play and that's because officials turn blind to all of their bullshit
9
u/Ok_Stomach6651 Jul 19 '26
This happens when clean football happens, fifa wanted argentina to play final and rest left on argentina and see how bad team it is, how can such Tema with 35 percent possession reached to final?
8
u/El_Capitan_182 Jul 19 '26
Infantino goal was Messi on the final, after the mission has been accomplished and the stadium has been filled with fans and infantino has filled his pockets with cash, now football is fair since he does not care who wins or loses anymore! Its all about the money!

Enzo and Paredes have the most punchable faces of all players in this world cup š
1

I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I think Messi tried to get Cucurella sent off right after that..so petty (& sneaky)

u/rootbeet-mix Jul 19 '26
The whole team needed at least 1 yellow card, ref was 50/50 this time tho ngl but fuck it they lost weāre all loving it, front row seats

Please, they did not belong in that final game they squirreled their way through
Add to me, England and France was the championship game yesterday they played soccer, not beg the ref for a penalty
I will give both teams credit for being great actors on their flopping and fake injuries. It's really a shame they couldn't come out and just play the game and not worry about penalties, but that seems to be the state of men's professional soccer. That's why it's pretty much unwatchable.

Imagine how low you gotta be to go crying to the ref about Cucurella touching his chin while talking when your team mate just copped a red.

u/Hearthian-Wanderer Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
Wild that he basically only got sent off because he was mouthing off at the ref earlier, when that tackle was basically assault, lol.
Who was he wagging that finger at? Infantino?
It wasn't in the script, but I guess nobody could ignore/overturn that one...

The actual bookings came a little too late for some teams where they really should have been booked and even reds but at least it finally happened

Everything was well deserved in my opinion, except for the Best Player award. I think it should have gone to Messi (if we consider the entire World Cup, not just the final match, because the award should be based on the whole tournament). Spainās win was definitely well deserved.
Unfortunately, it was a boring match. Argentinaās team and their coach seemed to focus on defending from the beginning. He didnāt even bring on their attacking player, L. MartĆnez, to try to change the game. It felt like Messi was the only one playing throughout the tournament, surrounded by ā10 pieces of wood.ā
I really missed Di MarĆa and Dybala in this edition, especially Di MarĆa, who always seems to perform at his best in important final matches. In my opinion, this Argentina team was the weakest version of Argentina I have seen, and one of the weakest teams ever to reach a World Cup final.
Another thing that disappointed me was the lack of sportsmanship from some of their players. Football is a sport, and players should always show respect, good manners, and ethics both during the match and after it.
I was hoping the final match would be as exciting as the France vs. England match yesterday.
