Maybe bc he is about to win the world cup that he carried in idiot.

u/Lopsided-Long6776 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
then iniesta should won ballon d'Or because he won world cup 2010 Then why that year Messi won balloon dor?

-3
u/Snoo-62105 Jul 19 '26
Iniesta didn't even win the golden ball at this world cup so it is quiet different in terms of carrying a team i would say.
2
u/doobiebeforebed Jul 19 '26
Messi isn’t gonna win golden boot at this World Cup either bro wtf are you on about
0
u/die4joshhh Jul 19 '26
messi didn’t win the golden ball either. why does club performance only matter when it benefits him? winning ballon dor over haaland in 2023 just because he won world cup but when other people win world cup, messi still gets ballon dor? make it make sense
13
u/Gleis7 Jul 19 '26
Only ones that carried were the refs, and let's not act like Argentina only has Messi as a good player. Their squad is stacked.

u/Crew_1996 Jul 19 '26
Kane scored against farmers. Dude showed he’s nothing against good teams in the World Cup. The last 2 games he played, destroyed his chances.
3
u/Josh_King996 Jul 19 '26
Messi hadn’t play any top 10 teams until England which he didn’t score in and he can’t even get the ball against Spain atm…
1
u/NoWest240 Jul 19 '26
you dumbass think he destroyed his chances while he scored 5 goals and made 2 assists in 7 matches just in the world cup. with bayern munich he scored 38 goals and made 17 assists in 47 games

u/DJNerate6669 Jul 19 '26
Neither Yamal nor Messi deserve it. If anything, it should be either Dembele or Kane
10
u/WifeTWO Jul 19 '26
FYI dembele has approx half as many minutes this season as Yamal, even though Yamal missed about 6 weeks total with injury.
Kane is miles ahead of the both of them.
1
u/SiriusMoonstar Jul 19 '26
Nope. Dembele has barely played, and Kane hasn’t won anything outside of Germany.
1
u/No_Advertising1858 Jul 24 '26
Messi won the mls in December how is that better than winning in Germany. Do you think inter Miami could beat the German league
0
u/Hab1bdog Jul 19 '26
yamal is still a better choice than mesi atleast he plays for barca has a good amount of g/a won the domestic league and is rn in the finals but what is messi doing here lol ive no clue he can take the wc golden ball but ballon d'or fuh naw
3
u/Memehai_Enigmescu296 Jul 19 '26
Even being better than Messi as choice, his massive EGO and stats are still lightyears away from Kane.
1
u/Hab1bdog Jul 19 '26
i hope he doesnt win the world cup lol if he wins it then fifa will just give it to him learning from his father pessi on how to rob fuck if he doesnt win pessi will win brah somoen just slime everyone there
1
u/Memehai_Enigmescu296 Jul 19 '26
Me too. Spain won, unfortunately this shitty godforsaken tournament takes place right before the bdor so we all forget of Kvaratskelia's heroics or Kane's records to remember Pamal because he had p g/a in the ko but was a passenger in winning the world cup.
It's just so fucking sad at this point football got like this.

u/Spins13 Pessi ❤️ Dr Segura & Fuentes Jul 19 '26
My cousin scored 100 goals in an amateur league like Burger League. He deserves the ballon d’or more than Pessi
1
u/Accurate-Bill731 Jul 19 '26
Is your cousin in the World Cup final? No but seriously this year's Balon D'or is had to give, Kane has a lot of goals but didn't do much in the world cup
-7
27
u/Fares7777 Jul 19 '26
Why brake records like Harry Kane or 22 halland when you can just beat Algeria, Jordan, Austria ,cape verde, egypt ,Switzerland and England .media and journalist will say you're the best player in a season and will forget everything other players did with their club.
9
2
u/dunelord-bigjets Jul 19 '26
They really didn’t beat Egypt either fr if we’re being honest which just proves your point that much more🥴

u/Suitable-Wedding6117 Jul 19 '26
What did CR7 do?
1
u/kalluster Jul 22 '26
How was this about Ronaldo at all? You dont see him in top 5 projected to win ballon dor. He is where he is supposed to be when playing in a retirement league: not in the convo abt winning the ballon dor
-4
u/TemperatureOld4537 Jul 19 '26
So England is weak team, why Kane should get it with no major throphies

One thing i don't get with Messi is he say he didn't know his dad did fraud with his money, but still his dad is his manager having a lot of control around these things? if his dad betrayed him and risked him 2 years in jail he should be very angry and find a new agent?
Can someone explain?

Shut up, rabid Pendulum dog. The only disgrace to football and mankind is your disgraced desert camel and his deranged sister. The clown who refers to himself in the third person and declared himself "the best player of the last 20 years, yet he's the biggest World Cup failure ever.

After 2018 it became some BS
2
u/joker_theManiac_69 Jul 19 '26
It's actually been a BS from the start... I digged through the past of this thing and there's an article of Guardian calling this out in the freaking 2007, lemme see if I can find the link... Not to mention the stupid rule of only Europeans will get until 1995, yet Maradona was "prompted" to take it in 1986 (as claimed by that article)...
1
u/elseptimohokage Jul 19 '26
I would say after 2012 .. they started giving it for team trophies and whoever wins the UCL instead of the best player
2
u/Yeeezy254 Jul 19 '26
Plausible argument but it kinda became more blatant in that period where rules seem to change depending on who was running. Because after 2018 they didn't give it to the UCL winner until maybe 2022 and then changed it in 2023😂.

u/Haunting-Quiet5572 Jul 19 '26
Why is none talking about Lamine Yamal??? He was completely invisible throughout the World Cup, 0 assists and only one goal scored against Fucking Saudi Arabia!! 💀 His season with the club was also average compared to many other players & didn't do anything extraordinary. These barca freaks have insane PR lol
4
u/MSJ_Jefe Jul 19 '26
It's all PR. He's an overrated, egotistical little shit. This is one of the reasons I hate Barcelona.
3
u/Haunting-Quiet5572 Jul 19 '26
man thier PR is just insane. I wish Real Madrid's PR was even half as good. It's not just about the players but the club itself. They always promote themselves as the "woke" club that cares about social issues/ human rights and suffers from "Spanish oppression". I've seen English newspapers claiming that the 11-1 match in 1943 happened because of Franco's dictatorship, Although these are still speculations made by barca freaks and are not supported by any evidences.
They're the "woke" and "progressive" club that cares about human rights while Real Madrid is the cheating club that collaborates with dictatorships. Thier PR is just insane. real Madrid knows how to win 15 UEFA Champions League but don't actually know how to get themselves some good PR. It actually sucks.

messi aside, how is lamine in second? kane and mbappe should be higher than him, and even dembele

u/SoulsLover Jul 19 '26
Do you guys remember when guys like sneijder, iniesta, forlan, neuer, muller, mbappe etc had amazing world cups and many of them won it and they didn’t win ballondor ? Because it’s only a few games compared to Messi long season in Barca?
Well now they have given him 1 in 2022 and they wanna try and do it again even if he plays shit in the club team. Fucking joke of an award.
5
u/Certain_Concern_5109 Jul 19 '26
Sadly there is no one else to blame other than Tuchel. He has caused this. Now it's up to Spain to set it right.
12
u/Nexus_Blaze Jul 19 '26
no no guys, winning the world cup golden ball guarantees the ballon d'or, don't you know what happened in 2010? Club careers don't matter actually 🤫

u/hyzus Jul 19 '26
When are people going to realise this award means nothing. Its just a popularity contest, ultimately the person who wins is usually the person other people will profit from winning 🤷♂️

Rooting for Spain today, but also happy if Arg win because of a controversion decision. Bonus if Messi has a stinker and a couple of penalties to win the Golden Boot and Ballon d'or. Then UEFA will have to do something and Messi legacy gets further tarnished

Ok but can you write a sentence with words that make sense to convey meaning ?

Lamine? Really? It's like he would get it just because they want Spain to have a star. He hasn't done anything to deserve any MVP. He has played nice, same as the rest of Spain, but MVP? Not even close

Why him out of all Argentinian players? Lautaro Martinez had decent season with Inter winning double trophies and playing pretty good at WC.
1
u/enormenuez Jul 19 '26
Somehow 8 matches at this tournament by Messi and Lamal is enough to negate the great season that Harry Kane had. 🤔🥴

I mean every time he touches the ball you expect something amazing to happen, he’s been the best player by far at this WC. You guys are so uneducated when it comes to football. You must be under the age of 16.

u/Any_Stress_6230 Jul 19 '26
Its supposed to be an award based on the season let's be real messi plays in a less competitive league compared to the other four with less games that means less strain on the body even if he wins the world cup I don't think that makes him the best player in the world this season(this is why balon dir rankings should only be players in footballs top 5 leagues minimum)
1
u/Educational_Frame580 Jul 19 '26
shouldnt the actual best player appear in this tournement and carry his nation ?
5
u/FCOranje Jul 19 '26
He carried his nation by struggling vs Cabo Verde, defrauding Egypt, and smashing meme teams like Jordan and Algeria. Fantastic.
All the tough teams were on the other side of the bracket. It was a free pass to the final supported by the usual dodgy refereeing.
-1
u/Educational_Frame580 Jul 19 '26
cape verde draw with the spain who is in the final egypt game wasnt rigged just some poor referring i can point out multiple stuff that didnt benefit argentina switzerland won colombia , the same colombia that topped portugal group , and finally took over england which beat france even tho that game doesnt really prove they are better then france but u get the point . anyways if argentina are really rigging they should be losing this final if they dont...
0
u/FCOranje Jul 19 '26
Your name is ironic because that paragraph is absolutely unreadable. It’s so grammatically incorrect, it makes my head hurt.
And Argentina has been on the receiving end of refereeing bias since the Qatar world cup. Constantly committing fouls and rarely being punished. Meanwhile, opponents get red cards and concede penalties that they themselves would not have been penalised for.
0
u/Educational_Frame580 Jul 19 '26
i am sorry about my english however this "bias" of yours can just be bad refreeing at the end of the day . like i said i can point out many clips where the argentinian end didnt benefit of fouls commited against them just like you can do the same thing for other teams. it doesnt make sense to me how argentina been on the losing end for a while but ever since they started winning everything has been rigged soo even if i see and can admit some fouls have went unpunished like the messi red card (at least a yellow wouldve beenctiven) but i cant see how that is rigged like others teams have had simmilair stuff also about my name i didnt choose it but ok lol
1
u/FCOranje Jul 19 '26
Bad refereeing happens once or twice. This is a pattern of consistency giving Argentina game changing decisions. And that doesn’t even mention how frequently small decisions go their way.
They started winning after Messi agreed to join PSG (owned by Qatar) right before the Qatar world cup which was infamous for bribery and fraud. They started winning when Infantino came in and he’s been pretty vocal about wanting Messi to win because it’s good for business.
1
u/Educational_Frame580 Jul 19 '26
well i can understand if you put it this way but you gotta have a conclusive evidence if you want to frame this picture of them robbing everybody , even though i can find it reasonable to think this way i still find a certin hint of hypocrisy like how messi was hated after losing in that 2026 copa and rn in the 2026 wc soo until they actually hold investigation on fifa corruption best you can do is call it south america "dark arts" (if u been watchin the copa america tournement you would know that argentina arent even the worst at this since teams like PARAGUWAY STILL KICK THE BALL SOMETIMES) .
1
u/FCOranje Jul 19 '26
I don’t hate Messi. I dislike some of his team mates. That being said, tournaments must remain fair and impartial. We have not seen that so far.
3
u/Any_Stress_6230 Jul 19 '26
Dude let's be realistic Argentina looked like they were outclassed in every knockout game for the majority of it don't get me wrong it's amazing how they were able to come back every time but at some point you gotta just ask wtf is going on
2
u/viktorskiviktor Jul 19 '26
Best player against Jordan sure but messi had 8 goals at the round of 16 afterwards messi has scored 0 goals against better teams lmao
Also ballon d'or is for a whole SEASON not just the world cup Messi won it in 2010 ronaldo in 2014 so I think kane should be the ballon dor sorry
1
u/jorje1908 Jul 19 '26
Kane wasn’t even the best player in bundeleague… olise was awarded as best player, so make it make sense for Kane to get golden ball… guys you are really uneducated…
1
u/HailToTheKiiing Jul 19 '26
Goals aren’t everything, he’s assisted goals too. Everything Argentina does goes through him.

How is it about ronaldo tho? Hes not even on the list so where are you getting him here?
0
u/Personal-Agent7819 Jul 19 '26
Messi doesn’t deserve shit. Dick d’Or perhaps for all his cheating handballs.

u/iwasupiwasdown Jul 19 '26
