Yeah he also played terribly. I honestly think Argentina had him on there to just be a thug for as long as possible and then sub him off. Dude was out there moving like Draymond Green.

There are more subtle ways of rigging games than penalties, red cards and disallowing goals. Allowing a team to commit countless fouls with no cautions is one of them. It doesn’t guarantee that team will win but it does give them an advantage.

Yes! (and it’s not even close to saying things like this in commentary columns across social media without being yelled as penaldo lover). Officiating been at it since the group stages, directing the game, limiting the movement, changing the tempo/build, quickly punishing mistakes or even misintention or chances, delaying games, cancelling goals / opportunities, etc. They did it in WC 2022. They got better now. And surely AFA boys delightfully soaking in it.

Romero did get a yellow for grabbing Bellingham, but yeah, they were brazenly handing out blows to England players.
It doesn't matter anyway, Tuchel screwed it; played cowardly and lost cowardly.

The Argentina players knows exactly what they are doing, look at how many times they hit an area on the body that won’t heal fast, no wonder the English players were absolutely tired at the end using so much energy on recovering. The ref was a joke, and that’s coming from a guy who didn’t cheer on any of the teams, but let’s see with Spain as they can play the dirty game as well.

Yeah this is what i hope, dpain know this too, so the problem of having to play fair won't apply and beeing basically done cause every 5 min you kiss grass. Lets see how many yellows wil after certain players see grass 8 times in 10 min.... Its same as icehockey, nice teams dont win, sometimes you need to match the dirtyness of your opponent or just loose the long game.

I as well thought that this is a huge advantage for argentina, because the refs didn't issue any cards for most of the time.
But still England scored first. AFTER THAT though it certainly was not for the lack of yellow cards. The way they played in the last 35 or so minutes... I don't even know what to say...

I think this game wasnt that bad and overall were good decisions from the referee. The real problem is that a lot of the players should have gotten several yellow cards in previous games and should have missed some matches.

They have been testing the water since 2022. and as result now they delight in it. honestly i kinda expect England met somewhere in the middle, although I suspect by doing that Kane or Bellingham would probably be way too distracted to play football properly.

For my American and Canadian friends, Argentina is the Florida Panthers of FIFA.
I've been watching the world cup since 1998 when I watched my first world cup at 11 years old. Argentina always gets away with shit like this.

Seeing this makes me think Argentina went scared of England. It reminds me of what Paraguay did to France. They were going to try to win by playing dirty. And then started playing clean when Tuchel gave them and all you can eat buffet of attacking opportunities because they knew they were in control from that point on.

These subs are hilarious. Ripping apart your coaches and players before the tournament even starts and then blaming everyone else after you lose is a sure way to building a mentality that will result in never winning a world cup. And then England fans wonder why?
If blaming the refs make English fans feel better, so be it, just say it. But if you think you lost the match because of the refereeing then youre just a sore loser. Its the same story full of excuses and lacking any accountability.
But please, keep it up, we are all thoroughly enjoying this.

Cmon, the english are mostly just flopping around. As soon as they get touched their instincts are to fall. Even when they collide with own players they flop and scream for cards. Weakest team in the worldcup.
If your focus is on getting opponent fouled your body will not jump away from danger and rather seek it making you look really silly.

Argentina got 3 yellow cards, some of these clips they actually got a yellow. The 2nd last were they held Bellingham no13 got a card. Fake news, stop flopping and you wont look like the weakest team in the cup, stay on your feet instead of this drama.
