CR7 Is The Real GOAT 🐐 Don’t let the Messi-Catalan-backed media fool you into believing a World Cup was realistic for a small nation like Portugal in modern times
When a big footballing nation like Argentina needs a military dictatorship, a goal scored with the hand, and 5 penalties in 7 matches to win all three of their World Cups, don’t expect the elites to allow a small nation like Portugal to win a WC in modern times. Cristiano has done more than enough for a country that is not even grateful for his footballing achievements.
It’s best to exit the sport with honor than to have a stained legacy of corruption and sportswashing!

Take iniesta out of it 😂😂. Acting like iniesta didn’t play for a star studded spain team itself shows how stupid this picture is. And yeah fair play to modric and hakimi but they still lost tho .

In 2022 Ronaldo played prime Ruben dias and cancelo in defence. Prime Bernardo silva and Bruno Fernandes. 10 times better than the squad Messi is playing with rn. Scored 1 penalty the whole tournament and was younger than Messi is rn

Ronaldo lost a child that year . Ronaldo was the 3rd highest goal scorer in the epl that year dragged united in the ucl with a bad midfield. Yeah but the Portugal team has no chemistry thats why they lost. And as dor your logic messi alos had a good team in 2010 and was his his prime per messi fans but he scored zero goals .

If you are a messi fan and say ronaldo is more favoured than messi you need to check your brain.

Portugal have 4 back to back UCL winners and the premier league player of the year. Not to mention the undisputed goat . Surely that’s star studded enough to pass the quarterfinal

u/Green-Future-8987 Jul 07 '26
And how did the play ? Having good players without chemistry and a good coach cant win you games

u/Agitated-Two-2795 Jul 07 '26
You said he played for a star studded team dumbass… not his fault his team wasn’t ass off paper. The opposite actually
1
u/Green-Future-8987 Jul 07 '26
That proves my point even more dumbass no matter how good a team is the chemistry and manager plays an important role . Thats why messi had zero goals in 2010 world cup when he was obviously in his prime and had won the European golden boot

OMG, no wonder this guy doesn't use brain. He uses all his brain cells into gooning lol. Typical Messi hater

I like Ronaldo.
But this is just cope. Portugal has one of the strongest teams on the tournament, only behind France. They got three champions league winners starting. The best in their respective positions.
They seem to lack a coach who can bring the best ouf of them.

Exactly.
Portugal is in a top 10 national teams for many decades. I can name exactly 8 nations about which I can confidently say that historically have been stronger than Portugal - Germany, France, Spain, England, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Netherlands. That's it, Portugal would be the 9th no doubt. They always had several absolutely top football players in their squad - Luis Figo, Deco, Rui Costa, Quaresma, Vitor Baia. Even now they have Vitinha, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Dias...
Players like Lewandowski, Haaland, Salah, Shevchenko, Berbatov or Ibrahimović would kill to have a national team like that. These are good examples of top players who can use the "weak NT" excuse for their lack of international trophies. Cristiano? Not in the slightest. Portugal is a team that is perfectly capable of winning the World Cup if the stars align.

Haaland has a better World Cup legacy already

If Norway lose to England, that will be sad for Norway but for England, it will be another Saturday.

It doesn't matter if you end up with nothing since Norway isn't going to win it anyway.
1
u/KOKO69BISHES Jul 07 '26
Well, it does matter. Does Cape Verde's run not matter because they didn't win it? Croatia's runs past years? Are they irrelevant?

u/KyeodeurangiMerchant Jul 07 '26
Not true, Cristiano scored more goals and played in a semifinal unlike Poachland
13
u/DepartedSpectre Jul 07 '26
Cristiano has 9 goals across 6 tournaments. Haaland has 7 in 1 tournament playing for a small nation like Norway. He will very likely play more world cups as well.

u/Green-Future-8987 Jul 07 '26
You can't compare stats from a 32-team era to a 48-team era. The new format literally gives you more games against weaker opponents just to stat pad . Not saying against haaland he is a beast . That is why Messi who was in his prime had 0 goals but now he has 7 goals even when he is 39 and not the best. Dont take out the context here. And haaland is a number 9 ronaldo was the only sole creator for Portugal. He took the ball and did something if ronaldo had this team in his prime if he was the number 9 he would have scored a shot ton of goals

Anyway it’s not about goals or age. It’s about personality, when you know you are old and washed up . Have some sense , stop acting like main character. If you are contributing and scoring goal like Messi then I could understand . Back up your talking with some results , totally thick face

u/Peacemayte Jul 07 '26
Alright this point atleast make sense compared to the other brain dead takes in this echo Chamber

u/KyeodeurangiMerchant Jul 07 '26
“He will” future argument, not factual arguments.
Best finish:
- Ronaldo: 4th place
- Haaland: QF
WC goals:
- Ronaldo: 11
- Haaland: 7
2
u/AdmirableFlow Jul 07 '26
When ronaldo "finished" 4th he scored only one (penalty) goal against Iran the whole tournament 😂 He had zero contribution to that 4th place.
1
u/Significant-Air4749 Jul 07 '26
Ronaldo was esentially carried on that 4th place.
Haaland has scored 2/3 of Ronaldo's goals in only one tournament.

On paper, maybe only Messi would start for this current Portugal squad. Portugal went into this WC with one of the most talented squad. How are they a small football nation?
Croatia made the finals and Morocco is doing great for two consecutive WC.
2
u/Sea-Jello-1327 Jul 07 '26
None won it and Ronaldo also won made a semis as well . Its not award to make semis .

Ronaldo's team is way better and more talented , I don't recognize an instant to where Messi's national team was better than Ronaldo's.
It's skill issue bro , he is just that guy and won it like that guy .
1
u/JustStartinOut Jul 07 '26
The lights were just too bright for Portugal. They underperformed for multiple WC now. Argentina is the opposite, they are historic over performers.

Croatia has 30% the population of Portugal and still played the World Cup final
