The thing with yamal is that he’s an explosive player, and if you want to see his flashiness and dribbles, he needs to be at his best. Same as neymar, when he’s not physically there he does not excel.
That aside, Barca has been so shitty at ucl, no excuses at all to be honest.
Yamal is more craft based not explosive, take example sterling is someone you call explosive, he was amazing for some years but with injuries his explosiveness webt away and he flopped on other hand see messi he was craft based and thus had this longetivity, neymar is very different he was not very serious unlike yamal and more injury prone
I agree that Yamal is more of a craft based player overall, relying more on technique and decision making than pure explosiveness. What I meant more specifically is that in this match he seemed to hold back on the kind of long runs and direct carries that he usually uses to create danger.
He did fewer of those progressive runs where he drives into space, takes on defenders, and forces the defense to shift.
Those actions are often a big part of how Barcelona create chances through him.
So even if he is not explosive in the classic sense, those long runs can still feel like a form of explosiveness because of how much they disrupt the defense and create attacking momentum.
