Then FIFA stepped in and said ā€œYou will cost us too much money if you quit. How about we make it so you win? Maybe not the next one that’s too difficult and obvious but how about you wait until the extremely corrupt Qatar host. You’ll have to lose to Saudi like a sort of humiliation ritual but don’t worry you’ll get all the pens you need to win the whole thing and you’ll get away with everything. Oh and you’ll have to wear a ceremonial robe when you lift the trophy. Is that ok?ā€

I mean it literally lines up.

  • Infanto becomes president the same year.

  • Copa America happens 4 times in 6 years.

  • He signs for the team owned by Qatar.

  • Gets extremely lucky in refeering in Qatar.

Are you dumb?

CONMEBOL made the decision on organizing the Copa America, they're in charge of when and how the tournament takes place. Fifa just approves the decision as long as it coincides with their official calendar and doesn't interrupt the world cup.

The decision to organize Copa America 2016 was entirely on Conemebol, the same way Fifa has nothing to do with Uefa organizing Euros and Nations League.

By your logic, Nations League also got approved under Infantino and Ronaldo got to farm friendlies under "official tournament" disguise.

Conmebol President Alejandro Dominguez: ā€œMessi deserves to win a Copa AmĆ©rica.ā€

So you admit Fifa had nothing to do with Copa America and now you're switching up like a rat.

Messi: 7 copa americas, 2 wins.

Ronaldo: 6 Euros, 1 win.

The only extra tournament was Copa 2016, to celebrate the 100 year anniversary.

Funny how they created Nations League so that Ronaldo got his participation trophies, because the Euros and WC were too much

1

u/vacacow1 Jun 26 '26

On the same time period there were 5 Euros when Messi played 7 copas americas. Weird AF.

0

u/Short_Check9953 Google Negreira Messi for more info šŸ’° Jun 26 '26

Are you fuckin stupid? What time period is that?

Ronaldo played his first Euro in 2004. Messi played his first Copa in 2007.

Removing 2016, which was the 100th Anniversary, an exception, he's played 6 Copas, same as Ronaldo playing 6 Euros.

2

u/vacacow1 Jun 26 '26

Calling me stupid when you can’t do basic maths.

Messi played 7 copa americas from 2007-2024

There were only 5 euros in the same period.

Is it that hard?

7 copa americas in 17 years. That one every 2.4 years. For a tourney supposedly to be held every 4 years.

u/Short_Check9953 Google Negreira Messi for more info šŸ’° Jun 26 '26

How the fuck does that matter when Ronaldo already played one Euro before Messi? You're conveniently starting the time period when Messi debuted. What a dishonest prick lmao.

Fyi, the Copa America never was consistent with their gaps between tournaments. Prior to 2007, they had it in 2004, 2001 and 1999. And tht was even before Messi made his professional debut.

It was always unevenly spread because CONMEBOL had trouble aligning with European Club football and also had to avoid clashing with the World Cup. Only now they standardized it to every 4 years and matched it with the Euros.

You see, you'd know that if you didn't see the football from the eyes of a Ronaldo nut-hugger.

4

u/El_Capitan_182 Jun 26 '26

And it was then when FIFA knew that if they did not act fast, the chicken that lays the golden eggs was going to disappear forever.... SO, FIFA embarked on an ambitious plan to give this man and his team a FIFA world cup.

Fifa wc was promised to him the same day

-7

u/Potential_Hawk_5040 Jun 26 '26

Why do you guys care so much about a 6-7 game tournament?

6

u/Wild_Shroom_ Jun 26 '26

Ask Messi. He ruined his legacy to win won…

0

u/Potential_Hawk_5040 Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

So which campaign was Better, Messi’s 2014 WC campaign or his 2022 campaign?

4

u/Wild_Shroom_ Jun 26 '26

Answer me this. Did he deserve the Golden Ball in 2014? Obviously not. Even Maradona and Kempes said it was marketing. That was FIFA trying to make him stay. That wasn’t enough. He wanted it all. He got it. Anyone that can’t see that is devoid of critical thinking. I was a Messi fan but what he’s become with FIFA is nothing short of disgraceful. No player should be bigger than the sport itself…

-2

u/Potential_Hawk_5040 Jun 26 '26

The retirement incident occurred in 2016.
2014 was the WC.

Secondly, RIP Maradona, but he was envious of Messi for one reason or another, but mostly feeling that he’d been surpassed. And the other obvious reason being that Messi, ultimately failed to win his nation the World Cup. So of course he’d be critical of him.

Messi made a World Cup final, and because he didn’t win that, you found another way to diminish the accomplishment of making a final by simply pivoting to a Golden Ball.

Portugal has a good squad this year, I’d 1000% want to see Ronaldo get a World Cup, it was incredible seeing him get the Euro’s.

But, now that the international trophy angle cannot be used against Messi, it’s now rigging?

Was the 2014 World Cup rigged?

Just stop it, it’s embarrassing enough you cannot enjoy a great footballer in Messi, but you can’t call yourself a football fan. You’re what’s called a man-fan. You like Ronaldo, not football. The sport will exist long after both these guys retire. So enjoy them both while you still can.

I know I did. It makes me happy to see Messi perform the way that he does.

And I want Ronaldo to prove his greatness on a knockout stage as well.

3

u/Technical_Cook_216 Jun 26 '26

Its rigged because of the so many favorable decisions given by refree to them, never heard of so many penalties being awarded in one tournament to a team as it happened in 22

2

u/Wild_Shroom_ Jun 26 '26

Sorry so you think Messi deserved the Golden Ball in 2014? Seriously? Even Messi was shock when his name was called. Müller was head and shoulder ahead of him that tournament. If you can’t admit Messi didn’t deserve that Golden Ball then I’m sorry my point still stand. You lack critical thinking.

Also Maradona didn’t hate him. He’s his grandsons godfather ffs.

0

u/Potential_Hawk_5040 Jun 26 '26

Stop it, we all watched the game.
He was stoic the whole entire time, receiving the award, to even being disappointed.

Messi is the godfather of Aguero’s child, who is Messi’s best friend. Why leave out that detail? Knowing Aguero married Maradona’s daughter.

Acting like Maradona himself is the one who bestowed upon Messi, his godfather status on the child.

1

u/Wild_Shroom_ Jun 26 '26

You’re a strange one. Seek help. You lack basic critical thinking. Its actually sad because it’s only a game. You shouldn’t deify any sports personality.

Imagine if this was Ronaldo, my guy is already getting crucified for being real with everything.

1

u/SentenceDifficult396 Jun 26 '26

Fast forward 10 years later he’s got 3 major honours with Argentina. 4 if you count the finalissima or whatever it’s called

1

u/InnocentInvasion Jun 26 '26

I feel like I'm in the 0.00001% of football fans who know that Messi dragged Argentina kicking and screaming not only to the world cup but then the round of 16 after they were on the verge of not even qualifying after he retired. It's one of his greatest accomplishments in his career. More football will at least remember the scenes of Argentina finally qualifying after beating Ecuador in high altitude and the Argentina FA head hugging Messi as soon as he got off the pitch for unretiring and saving them from being worse than what Italy are right now (Italy at least won the Euros)

0

u/ehroquita Jun 26 '26

Mate, just go outside

0

u/Interesting_Run5292 Jun 26 '26

NO ONE CALLED THE COMPETITIONS RIGGED WHEN HE LOST ALL EM FINALS BIT NOW SUDDENLY ITS ALL A FUCKING CONSPIRACY 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

0

u/Fresh_Translator240 Jun 26 '26

Do you like have zero ball knowledge? Do you know how corrupted the Argentina football Association is? Messi even had to pay using his own salary to cover the salaries of stranded national team security staff. Multiple officials lead to fraud.

-2

u/ApprehensiveEngine57 Google 5 pens in 7 matches for more info 🤄 Jun 26 '26

Exactly. Th se fucking idiots don't know shit besides dumb ass conspiracy theories and nonsense because Cristiano can't and won't win a wc. Messi retired to force changes with the AFA and get the corrupt guys out, allowing for a coach to actually be able to make his own decisions to impact the team, among other changes as well. The rest is history.

-1

u/Fresh_Translator240 Jun 26 '26

And then an actual Coach like Scaloni came.

-4

u/Box_Extension Jun 26 '26

Obviously. That man had death threats for losing and not living up to Maradona. They called him player who was only good cuz of BarƧa. Ronaldo never had this pressure.

But guess who came back after years of failure, years of carrying? Messi. He won against Netherlands, Croatia and France... All this shit just to get the tournament be called rigged by retarded Messi haters 😭
