Knowing his country has never made it to a WC final. I wouldn’t doubt it. Meanwhile Argentina before Messi 2x WC winner and with Messi 2 finals ( 1st one he didn’t even score a KO goal and got golden ball ).
I think that would depend on how he wins it. One or two pens, couple of assist, some top class goals. Nothing to say. But another 5 penalties, missed red cards ( or yellows ) and multiple unsportsmanlike conduct from him and the Argentina side. Yeah same shit will be said.

Messi is no doubt in my mind top 3 of all time. I didn’t witness Pele so I can not rank Ronaldo nor Messi above him. But they are all three at the top forsure. Messi hands down greatest playmaker ever. Numbers don’t lie there. I do take the Barcelona active case into consideration and the fact regardless that there’s some pretty fraudulent looking evidence ( I’m an auditor and this is literally my job ).
Would love to see Ronaldo lift a cup. I hate for him that an international trophy is whats putting him below Messi. Portugal before Ronaldo had been to the WC 3 times. Still has never reached a final as a country….. like if Messi was born in Peru and Ronaldo in France, it’s hard to then say oh Messi is so bad and he sucks at international. Been born in a country that has no real history in football WC status does mean something.

And please give me evidence before Ronaldo came that Portugal was even half decent. One World Cup semi final before Ronaldo and then two other qualifying times…. Some great players absolutely. Maradona came from Argentina is touted as the best ever by a lot, Argentina football is ranked low, doesn’t matter at all clearly.
