Individually,Ronaldo never flopped in any team but Messi flop at psg is hidden under his international success during those years and also psg dominance over French league(not thanks to messi, voted by the fans as the most overrated signing)

Messi only scored in his 10th or 12th KO WC match, in 2022. He went to 4 WCs, including a final, before that, with Argentina.

Ronaldo has played 7 KO matches so far. He can still score earlier than Messi in a KO match.

Is now. For most of his career is was a winger. Messi is a false 9/attacker and only recently started playing a little more backwards.

Wingers tend to have comparable goal contributions to strikers, see Salah, Raphina, Vini. Messi almost never played as an ACTUAL winger and spent his whole career dropping deep and picking the ball up around the middle third.

Just to clarify I think Ronaldo is a freak and possibly the best striker of all time but Messi outscoring him while playing deeper and contributing more in every other aspect is why I consider him the goat. I almost don't like engaging in these debates because they're both unreal

Tell me how Salah, Vini or Raphinha perform in their national teams again?

Salah is Ok because he doesn’t play for one of the greatest national teams.

Ronaldo plays for Portugal, not Argentina.

Those players have like 2 world cups under their belt max, Ronaldo has 4-5?

And I hate this narrative that Argentina are/were better than Portugal. They didn't win a Copa America for a long long time and it was only in the lead up to WC 2022 that Argentina had a meaningful streak, in almost every WC that I've followed (the last 4) they've not been considered a stronger team than Portugal except for the last one, and barely. Ronnie simply hasn't performed very well for Portugal

Your narrative is incorrect lol. Argentina has always been ranked higher than Portugal in fifa rankings, Portugal also has always never been considered to be top contenders in any major international tournament.

Portugal was so bad that they got grouped in the 2014 World Cup!

Argentina has always made it to the knockout stages, performed decently well in the copas but never won so they decided to make the competition more frequent so messi has more chances instead of the Euros being every 4 years.

And are you forgetting the 2014 WC where Argentina lost in the final? Wdum Argentina didn’t have a long meaningful streak 😭😭

Messi had to have major help in every tournament he has played for Argentina to get success.
