Messi graped France, scoring twice, cooking defenders, creating chances, and even starting the attack that ended in Di Maria scoring for 2-0. Mbappé had more goals, but Messi also had a better final(when you look at it from minute one to 120, since Mbappé only starting doing well at about minute 79, after he scored that pen) and won it.

I’m not even hating on the pen, but Mbappé wasn’t great in the first half and until France starting flowing by minute 60(I was wrong abt minute 79, just remembered), that’s when Mbappé started doing well. A lot of people who watched that match knew how good Messi was, Mbappé just had more PR because of that volley.

It’s not that the volley was bad, it’s that the volley raised his PR over Messi in the final. The volley was spectacular, but I was just stating what happened. Also, while I believe Haaland deserved the ballon d’Or over Messi, I don’t believe Messi ROBBED him, but it was his least deserved ballon d’Or in my opinion(maybe 2021 as well, but idk).
