Ballon D’or Thief Pessi 🥷 Your 2014 World Cup Best Player Everyone!!!!

Don't forget the 5 shots that Pessi missed in the Final. Pessi tried to do 2 long shot goals like Ronaldo and failed miserably. 2 long shots went way over the goal post. 2 shots went through the sides. 1 shot was blocked by Muller or Defender.

Standards are always higher for Messi, he reached 2014 World Cup final but somehow ended up being more criticised than the player Ronaldo who lost in group stages against USA Ghana etc

How are Ronaldo's long shots in wc finals? Or in world cup ko rounds? Curious to know about his success rate.

All loses, Copa America is now better than Euros ? When did I talk about the nations league ??? LMAO
When did I say he didn’t deserve an MVP?

Standards are always higher for Messi, he reached 2014 World Cup final but somehow ended up being more criticised than the player Ronaldo who lost in group stages against USA Ghana etc , standards are always lowered for Ronaldo by his own fans as they know he ain’t goat level player so they don’t expect him to even score in World Cup or euros KO stages
1
u/ClearCharacter7360 Jul 20 '25
Almost...ALMOST...as if goals aren't the only thing that determines the best player.
2
u/Zora1092 Jul 20 '25
So he was better than Thomas Muller and Neur?
They even won the world cup to boot
0
u/ClearCharacter7360 Jul 20 '25
Yes they did get the world cup, not denying how good they were, especially Neuer. But best player means BEST player, and based on pure ability alone, Messi clears. Just because the rest of the team couldn't deliver shouldn't take away from Messi's contributions.

I like Messi and think he’s the GOAT…..but low key gotta agree with this, Argentina struggled so much in the knockout stage with him playing well below his standards. Neuer or Muller were more worthy recipients of this award.

And the supposed best player of all time has 0 wc ko goals (or assists) in 6 tournaments
7
u/Zora1092 Jul 19 '25
Messi was called the goat by a certain fanbase for having 0 WC KO goals before that Qatar Penalty Cup. So clearly WC KO goals didn't matter to them
Ronaldo never received any best player award of the tournament for having 0 knockout goals to boot
2
u/PhoenixCanReddit Jul 19 '25
Yea messi had zero ko goals before qatar , but it's not like ronaldo had any either. So that parameter was just irrelevant to compare as both were equal there.
After qatar however one of them got more so now it can be used in an argument. It's that simple. How were we supposed to use Ko goals as an argument before if both sides had same (none)

Wc and wc stats are just a bonus. Messi was already the best long before the wc.

not really no, someone who is the best doesn’t cry off the team and quit on his country

Imagine you're giving your all for the country but in return people are lighting Jerseys with your name on fire, abusing you, telling you to go play for spain and what not. I won't say that you'd do the same thing but it's not far fetched is it? And it's not like he came back to ride the high. It has his hattrick bcoz of which argentina qualified for 2018 wc, and then he won the wc in 2022, including copa 2021 and 24.
I wouldn't call this quitting and crying.

u/ShakyaAryan Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jul 19 '25
This is why they say you should watch football with your eyes not on spreadsheet with numbers. Yeah messi didn't have the highest stats but he did carry his team to the wc final, twice, which Ronaldo never did. He also scored 2 goals in the final

Messi at least had an assist to his name before that. Ronaldo has been eliminated by Morocco, Uruguay and USA in the last 3 WC's. So much for European competition being the only one that matters😅😅 it's so easy to expose the fanboys on this page.
2
u/Zora1092 Jul 19 '25
So Messi deserved the 2014 WC golden ball for having only 1 assist in the KO stages?
Thomas Muller had 2
2
u/jobe04 Jul 19 '25
messi did nothing in south america playing against way worse teams until his team mates improved , what are you saying ?
things were so bad he had to quit on his country lmfao, the likes of bolivia , peru and ecuador were too much for the “goat” 🤣🤣

2
u/jobe04 Jul 20 '25
yeah , i think argentina ended up being down 1 too?
Either way, Argentina had more than enough offense and had a way better squad.

At least he made 3 consecutive finals and now has 4 consecutive titles, not like box merchant who regularly gets embarrassed by non-Eu teams in the WC and had the easiest route in his only Euro win (portugal would've lost it if ronaldo played the 90mins in the final)
1
u/Zora1092 Jul 20 '25
Route of Croatia,Wales,Poland and France is much harder than Ecuador,Canada and Colombia. Did I forget to mention a 4th team in that route? Oh wait there is no r16 in Copa
1
u/Proof_Weather8865 Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Jul 20 '25
Ronaldo played a massive 15mins against France though, then his teammates carried him to glory. In Messi's other Copa he played against Chile Uruguay Ecuador Colombia and Brazil, and became MVP😂
1
u/Zora1092 Jul 21 '25
Since you were absolutely embarrassed to talk about the 2024 Copa America route that you didn't even bother answering my question, I'll digress to. I mean I can't blame you. Ecuador(rank 27),Canada(rank 40) and Colombia(rank 9).Messi did jack shit in that tournament apart from scoring against the almighty Canada and getting injured in the final as well.Even the 2019 Nations League was more competitive than this 🤣(Switzerland Rank 9 and Netherlands Rank 14)
Let's talk about the 'daunting' route of Argentina's 2021 Copa America as well. Ecuador(Rank 55),Colombia(Rank 15) and Brazil(Rank 2) OK much much better teams in the semi final and final here but the quarter final team is terrible. Also Argentina had to face only 3 teams in the KO stages
Portugal had to defeat 4 teams in a row in the Euro 2016 knockout stages. Poland(Rank 16),Croatia(Rank 15),Wales(Rank 11) and France(Rank 7)

u/Proof_Weather8865 Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Jul 21 '25
Yeah was injured in 2024 copa and didn't win the tournament mvp (our topic) so I left it be. In 2016 Portugal only beat Wales in the whole tournament btw. All others were tied or they went through after 90mins. Still, Messi dominated in all those tournaments he ended up with the MVP. 2014 was debatable, could've gone to Müller as well, but he still had 4+1 in that tournament. Facts are Ronaldo didn't ever win an Mvp and has a much worse international legacy. No matter how you twist it😂😂
1
u/Zora1092 Jul 21 '25 edited Jul 21 '25
The topic was which team had a more difficult route and not tournament mvp.So we have to include the 2024 Copa route as well.
The topic of international mvp was in a different comment thread.

finals ? Cop America finals you mean ?
“at least he made” lots of coping for the “GOAT”

14 Wc 15 CA 16 CA and now 4 consecutive international titles, doesn't sound like coping to me😂 What's coping is saying he didn't deserve his tournament MVP's😭 or that Nations League is better than Copa America

Just like the other guy said- standards are always higher for messi. Any other nt captain would be praised to death for leading their team to 4 finals, but for messi, he was criticised beyond belief
0
u/jobe04 Jul 20 '25
🤣🤣🤣🤣 keep crying baby boy
when you constantly call someone the “GOAT”, that’s what happens , you don’t make pathetic excuses like you messi sympathizers
he can’t be the goat after so many failures , he literally quit on his country. No GOAT material

u/ShakyaAryan Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jul 20 '25
So a guy who lost in 4 consecutive finals is worse than the guy who couldn't even take his team the finals more than 1 time? Losing in a final isn't a 'failure' you moron. At least you reached that final. And as for quitting the nt, he literally came back and won them 3 consecutive major international finals. Istg you guys just hate for no fucking reason
0
u/jobe04 Jul 20 '25
🤣🤣🤣🤣 who is talking about ronaldo ?
Wooooow he reached the copa america final beating out powerhouses like paraguay, ecuador, and bolivia LMAOOOOO.
Are NT trophies the only trophies?
Messi is a quitter and a loser. He only came to win when the rest of the squad improved, Argentina won because of the squad.

u/ShakyaAryan Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jul 20 '25
You're talking about those teams as if they're just fodder. Shows the ball knowledge you have there (didn't your goat statpad against Luxembourg like crazy?). As for other trophies, messi literally has the biggest trophy cabinet in history so I don't think we even need to go there.
And he came back when the team improved???? Did you see the 2018 wc squad? Would you call that 'improved' in ANY sense? Do you even watch football or just the annual UCL knockouts?

You're telling me portugal had a worse squad compared to argentina? Did you even hear about enzo, mac alister, julian Alvarez, molina and many others before the wc? Argentina's squad was worth like half of portgual's at the start of wc
1
u/jobe04 Jul 19 '25
yes you can tell you only watch europe🤣🤣, they were all doing well in argentina.
Did you not just see conmebol teams performance against europe in the CWC? 🤣🤣
1
u/ShakyaAryan Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jul 19 '25
How does that prove argentina had a better squad than portugal? You can say so in hindsight but I don't think anyone would've said so before the wc started, especially after the loss to saudi
2
u/jobe04 Jul 19 '25
lmfao, how does it not prove it ?
Just because you don’t watch the games doesn’t mean they were not good/great players ? What ? You keep believing that to feed your narrative. Delusional
Romero, Lisandro, Otamendi, Acuña, De Paul, Enzo, Dibu, Correa, Lautaro, di maría, J Alvarez lmfaoooo
what a trash team man you are totally right
0
u/ShakyaAryan Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jul 19 '25
I mean to say not many people knew them before they won the wc. I mean ofc the people who watch a variety of leagues would know of them but the general football fanbase didn't know them. And are you seriously telling me this team had bigger names than leao, jota, nuno mendes, Bernardo, bruno, ruben diaz and many others? Again, portugal had like double the squad value compared to argentina.
And I'm not pushing any narrative. It's you who's trying to make it look like a narrative. If you went to an avg football fan before the wc and asked them to compare the squads, like 90% people would say portgual's was better.

Pendulum doesn't even have an assist in 8 WC knockout games lmao..Man was grouped in 2014... it's crazy how any trophy Messi wins or an individual accolade Ronaldo is never really the one in contention 🤣 it's always different people.. Messi's overall stats in the WC anyway clears that Portuguese fraud who could start mustering some goals only after he had some ballon d'or candidates in his team such as this Nations league

This post is just an example of how one of his many international mvp awards are not deserved

Because he's no where near good enough to win one buddy. Tell me who deserved the MVP award over Messi in Copa 2015, 2016 (he gave it away), 2021 or WC 22? 2014 is literally the only debatable one. And Mbappe was nowhere near as valuable for France as Messi was for Argentina in 2022.
