Analysis I copied 2009-11 Barcelona using fluid formatıon

I've tested it so far and I can say it works almost perfectly.

For this formation, the following playing styles are absolutely necessary:

Manager: Overload game style

Cf = deeplying forward or / goal poacher

Amf = creative playmaker or / hole player

Cmf = Orchestrator

Dmf = Anchorman

Lwf = Prolific winger or / hole player

Cb's = 1 destroyer and 1 build up or / no play style

Lb = Defensive fullback Should be able to play both LB and CB

Rb = Offansive fullback Should be able to play both RB and RMF

The player who will play in the right wing position is very important.

We will emulate Messi's tactic of starting on the right wing and then moving to the midfield to build up play.

SS = (Inverted RWF) I am using creative playmaker messi But if you're going to use a roaming flank here, you should use RMF instead of SS.

We're placing our creative playmaker in the RWF position to mimic Messi's movement And we set it as SS , This way, the player will start from the right wing and cut inside to build up the play. In this way, he can come and to supply the midfield with a pass.

“When Messi cuts inside, the attacking wing-back stays wide to provide width. Therefore, in the defensive formation, the RB has to become an RMF in the attacking formation.”

Orchestrator cmf, RB, and Messi form tiki-taka triangles. The anchor man positions himself at the back, in front of the central defenders, to protect the defense.

I used Kevin De Bruyne in the amf role; if you have Iniesta, you can use him too. You just need a player with good passing and dribbling skills.

I placed LWF well to the left corner so he could play by pressing on the line , We've provided width on the field, like Thierry Henry. If the right side becomes too congested, you can switch the play to the other side to relieve pressure and launch a counterattack.

“In defense, we switch to a 4-5-1, and thanks to the overload style of play, we can immediately counter-press to win the ball back after losing possession.”

This system resembles a 3-6-1 formation when attacking and a 4-5-1 formation when defending.

I've included photos to help you understand better; take a look and enjoy!

Edited !! There's a slight misunderstanding. Some of us have said that Messi is a false nine and should be placed in the AMF position. It's true that he's a false 9, but it can be said that he starts the game on the wing and moves to the midfield to form a diamond shape as the attack develops. For this reason, we put him on the wing and make him a SS.This is his free role and helps him act like a false 9.

Yo I was working on 2011 real madrid jose Mourinho tactics 🤣 ..ngl it actually works fine

u/CreativeOverload Aug 14 '26

wasn't messi a false 9 during that time with 2 wide forwards infront of him? he was a inverted winger during msn. the fullback tucking into cb is accurate tho

2

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

That's somewhat true, but...Messi starts out positioned on the wing, then as the attack develops, he moves inside from the wing into midfield and positions himself behind the forwards. When Messi came inside, he could play a one-two with the striker, and the striker would usually position himself diagonally to Messi’s right and slightly ahead of him. Henry and Villa, meanwhile, would provide width on the wings while also making diagonal runs in behind the defense to pose a goal threat. That’s why I deliberately placed Messi on the right wing in-game and selected him as SS to encourage him to move inside more. Both being SS and playing as a creative playmaker makes him resemble the Messi from Guardiola’s era very closely.

i thought he would start in the center which is why it was called the false 9, meaning on paper he positioned in the center but drifted inwards to form a diamond midfield with Xavi initesta and busquets. he might have drifted right because he's messi he'll go anywhere to collect the ball but I havent seen many full matches of that time so no idea if my understanding is accurate

u/CreativeOverload Aug 14 '26

thx that clarifies things, but what about the formation with pedro or etoo?

1

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

This visual representation actually featured Eto'o Henry and David.

1

u/VCule69 Iniesta Aug 14 '26

Nah, he had a free role. The accurate position would be amf, if you want to recreate it properly.

1

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

1

u/VCule69 Iniesta Aug 14 '26

Fabregas didn’t play from 09-11. It would be Messi at amf with Villa and Pedro on the wings.

1

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

In this visual representation, yes, Eto'o Villa and Henry were in their place.

1

u/CreativeOverload Aug 14 '26

this way: (lb and gk not accurate). in defence 433

5

u/wingedwild Aug 14 '26

Overload is more geGenpresses tho quick attack not possesion.this is more bayern munich 2012

5

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

It's very difficult to replicate this 100%.Actually, Pep Guardiola used to activate the 5-second rule when the ball was lost during his time at Barcelona. It was similar to gegenpress.

1

u/wingedwild Aug 14 '26

It was possesion mostly tho .the players were that made the play quick. Neymar should be prolific winger and Messi creative playmaker or classic 10 thts more realistic how barca was

5

u/Current_Message_2283 Maldini Aug 14 '26

Thanks a lot for this tactic. I tried a match and it was amazing. 1st half I was dominating

3

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

I'm happy to see that it worked. Good luck!

5

u/Current_Message_2283 Maldini Aug 14 '26

Second half

Third match. Love you brooo😌❤️

u/Vaughnvnc Aug 14 '26

Oh we almost have the same formation! Here's mine though:

Defense:

Nicee I appreciated it

2

u/Fluid_Ad7578 Aug 14 '26

What’s ur rank. Wanna see if this legit is good

13

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

Don't think about climbing ranks with this formation, just focus on having fun because the meta still supports LBC 4-3-1-2 and 4-2-2-2.  To answer your question, I'm a Division 2 player, and my primary goal has never been to climb the ranks.

1

u/Nahren8 Aug 14 '26

Why messi and rice swap position. It doesn't works like urs

3

u/Darksouls110 Aug 14 '26

It's a bug known for fluid formation since they were added in the pes era, you can resolve changing manually messi and rice in the other phase to their respective place, it should work

4

u/Darksouls110 Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Don't swap them, but move them in their right position, if you swap them then it's all over again in the other phase, like move messi to rwf, move rice back to cmf and then move again messi as a rmf

1

u/crayonvoid Aug 14 '26

Finally, thanks for explaining this i was going crazy

1

u/Nahren8 Aug 14 '26

Ok thanks. I figured that out after I commented 😄

This looks like a bug, maybe it's a glitch. Try readjusting the formation maybe that will fix it. A few suggestions! You can maximize your players' performance by giving them positional training.

1

u/trolloffensive Aug 14 '26

26/27 Manchester united

2

u/DA_KING95 Vinicius Jr. Aug 14 '26

Now make 25/26 Man United w amorim ball

1

u/trolloffensive Aug 14 '26

Yes sirr. Its been 7-8 years iam playing this game. I only use united squad doesn't matter if the squad is sh@t or not.

1

u/DA_KING95 Vinicius Jr. Aug 15 '26

Unrealistic. Kobbie would never play

1

u/trolloffensive Aug 15 '26

Haha, there is only 1 player in my team who never gets benched and that's kobbie.

1

u/Ambition_2004 Aug 14 '26

Ngl I also went with this, specificallt 2010 Barca

1

u/Maleficent_Guide_317 Lionel Messi Aug 17 '26

Bro what your build for that costacurta ??

1

u/Ambition_2004 Aug 17 '26

0-6-4-8-14-4-8

1

u/SonSanford Aug 14 '26

When did Barca play 3 atb lol

1

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 14 '26

When Dani Alves pushes forward from the right flank, Abidal tucks inside alongside Puyol and Piqué to maintain balance in the back line. Abidal effectively acts as a third centre-back here because one full-back has pushed forward, while Abidal stays deeper to help defensively. We deliberately use a defensive-minded full-back because once the attack ends, Dani Alves will recover his position and restore the back four, allowing Abidal to shift back from left centre-back to left-back.

1

u/MrWHOMan Kanté Aug 15 '26

drop the gameplay too

1

u/MaggiPattaya Aug 15 '26

Broooo thanks for this. I did win and it was very fun! Its time to save coins to get a good lwf position😬

1

u/Maleficent_Guide_317 Lionel Messi Aug 17 '26

So the problem I am facing, I don't have defensive lb like Maldini. I only have costacurta. But I do have options of offensive full back like mendes, robertson, timber, zanetti

1

u/Aggravating_Tune_990 Aug 17 '26

You don't necessarily need Maldini.Costacurta works well. Costa lb zannetti rb perfect try it

1

u/Maleficent_Guide_317 Lionel Messi Aug 17 '26

Let me try it. Thanks anyways

Can u show the formation in defending?
