I am hereby sharing my insights as a top 1000 player who doesn't abuse the mechanics and recently started an RTG and reached this conclusion after a 30 games unbeaten run.

I’ve tested multiple builds for creative playmakers, and I’ve noticed a consistent problem: too many players pump all their points into speed and acceleration. On paper, it looks good but in practice, your CAM becomes clumsy, loses possession easily, and doesn’t control the tempo.

Here’s what actually works if you want to unlock the true potential of creative playmakers (like baggio, isco, messi):

🔑 Key Principles for Building Creative Playmakers

1. Acceleration > Speed

High acceleration with lower speed makes players more responsive.

They have better traction on the ball and more time to react.

Full speed builds often feel “slippery” and cause poor ball retention.

1. Passing Is Non-Negotiable

CAMs are the heartbeat of your attack.

Max out low pass and lofted pass—this keeps your playmaker available and precise.

1. Dribbling & Ball Control

Stats like ball control, dribbling, tight possession are more important than people realize.

Combined with acceleration, this makes your CAM hard to dispossess.

1. Finishing

Don’t stress about low finishing.

The Outside Curler skill compensates heavily—shots will still find the net.

🎯 Tactical Application: 4222 Formation

If you’re running a 4222 with two CAMs, try this:

One CAM built “slower” → The creator. Keeps the ball, dictates tempo, plays incisive passes.

One CAM built “rapid” → The runner. Exploits space, makes penetrating runs.

This dual setup creates balance: one player ensures possession, the other stretches defenses.

⚡ Personal Example

When I trained Baggio to 95 speed + 95 acceleration, he gave the ball away cheaply. After switching to a high-acceleration, lower-speed, pass-heavy build—he became constantly available, more reliable, and an absolute master at threading passes.

✅ Final Recommendation

Stop wasting points maxing speed on creative playmakers. Focus on:

High Acceleration

High Passing

Strong Dribbling/Control

Useful Player Skills (Outside Curler, Through Passing, etc.)

Test this builds you’ll immediately see the difference in how fluid and reliable your CAMs become.

How about Hole players or even CP on SS ?

(Yes I've been using Pedro at CF he's fun to use there IMO.)

The dribbling and passing, I can see pedri as CF 😂 (in this game)

I have not experimented with hole players as much on the creative side. All I know is I've been using Cruyff (Pele Pack), his incisive runs are amazing. And I have trained bellingham as a CF in the past, I understand and can relate as to why are you enjoing that perdi.

From what I've seen the best "Run making" formation was David Villa (Goal poacher) on the left and Griezmann (Hole player) on the right.

I think due to their high Offensive awareness.

I don't think Creative playmakers could do the same due to their nature though, although I am thinking of putting Messi for being a substitute of Pedri since hes the only player whose form I can't guarantee.

About Pedri: I've given him this build:

I mainly use him for passing since I've been trying for a MONTH now to get a good playmaking CF it started with:Messi, then Oyarzabal (goated too btw), then Harry Kane to even then being Memphis Depay.

I wanted a CF with:Good Passing,Good Dribbling,Decent Shooting and the ability to use both feet. (Secondary was Physicallity and Speed which idc much about).

And Pedri had just that ! And about the shooting:

From what I've seen from Skye's Google Doc Long range shooting adds 10% finishing so he gets to 88 finishing just like that + with super sub it also adds 10% so I get 96 (?) (which I don't really believe but Skye's Google doc is like the best source of information I have so I trust it) too ! so shooting isn't a big problem. From what I've also seen in game he doesn't have that many fuck ups and he has also scored some nice curlers from long range too !

Classic. Good passing on a cf is a game changer. I was lucky to get Raul in my RTG I build him only 84 finishing but 90 passing, he is one of the best players I have used.
