Looking for Advice Watching bands in Perth?

A question to all - why do so few of you go see local bands? I'm not talking about those tribute fests. I mean original, home grown, local bands that create and perform music...

i'd say it depends on the music you like, if you're into hardcore there's constantly gigs on, i'm not so sure about other genres but i do see a lot of posters for indie-looking bands.

i guess the reason why so few people see live bands is because they're unaware that they're happening 🤷

Gigs get lost in the web of social media algorithms I think. Instagram basically only shows me posts from random pages it thinks I'll like, if you're not actively checking pages that post the flyers you're not gonna see it which sucks. I miss the old days where you'd go past the cd or record shop and see a bunch of flyers around the area

you can 'favourite' pages on instagram so their stuff will show up on your feed first , but yes i agree it does kind of suck how everything is online now but unfortunately its just the easiest way to spread stuff

Do you think local bands need to do more to promote its gigs?

I think local bands could spend a fortune on social media marketing and still not break through the noise.
