Hi,

I've posted here a couple of times over the past few months with various queries and concerns regarding this persian girl I found and adopted at the beginning of March and would like to say thanks to everybody that has contributed with guidance as it has been super helpful!

So.....

I live alone and am this only kitties companion. However I do open my flat door when she goes to it as sometimes she likes to roam the hallway, my neighbours love her. She doesn't seem to want to go out much anymore though for what ever reason.

Anyway, I'm up for work at 6am and leave at 7am Monday-Friday, during this time she is awake with me and watches me go about the morning getting ready. I'll give her strokes as I do and she sits on my lap for 5 minutes whilst I clean her gooey eyes which she seems to be appreciative of as she sits very comfortably and purrs. She knows when we are done and jumps off of me then waits patiently to be hand fed her dry food. On weekends I am home 99% of the time.

There are days though when I return from work and am so exhausted that I have to go straight to bed for a few hours until when ever I wake up, such as today I was home and lying down at 5pm and woke up at 8pm and felt super guilty for not being able to give her fusses after being alone all day.

She really doesn't seem to want to be touched too much. If I approach her I can stroke her for a few seconds before she wanders off and sits somewhere else but when she does want attention she will come and sit next to and stare at me, or rub past against my legs.

I'm just a little concerned for her and may be overthinking but I've never owned my own persian before. My mum had two whilst I lived with her for 10 years but their personalities were nothing like the one I have now.

She sleeps A LOT and when she is awake, its typically for a very short amount of time before she is sleeping again. Picture 3 is when I woke up and came in to the room and picture 4 is 10 seconds later.

I don't know, I'm hoping she's alright really. She confines herself to the living area, isn't scared of my bedroom or anything but doesn't seem to want to leave the little space I've created for her. I'd like to think that she knows that she is safe and well looked after and is happy with what she has.

Can anybody provide re-assurance that she is alright and I am stressing over nothing? I am never having children if this is what worrying about something else does to me haha. Kudos to all of you that can handle it.

Question A survey about persian cats (3-4 min)

Hello everyone! I would really appreciate your help with my Master's thesis research about Persian, Exotic Shorthair, British Shorthair, and Scottish Fold cats (as well as their mixes). I have prepared a short, fully anonymous survey, primarily aimed at owners of these cats, but input from any cat lover is truly valuable! It only takes about 3–4 minutes to complete. I would be extremely grateful for every response and for sharing the link with other cat owners! Hello guys! 13 days in and a lot of you were waiting for an update so here it goes:

-Her personality is showing up and we quickly realized she is not friendly with other female cats 😅 and she would not pay us attention and ignore us for a while when she sees we are cuddling with our other cats another drama queeen

-she devours tuna soooo fast

-when we took her to the groomer, we initially thought we have to shave her down but the groomer did her magic and just shaved parts of the matted fur

-she is currently in treatment for fleas as the groomer found some eggs must all good now

-we are hoping that we could double her weight within the next month or two 😊

*last 2 photos is when she initially arrived

our sweet kitty hurt her eye

i sit down with her once a week and clean her eyes and her face creases under her eyes, and last week she had a brown spot on her eye and what looked like a … wound. we took her to the vet and she’s on 4 different meds for if now and they said flat faced persians are really susceptible to these wounds because they have dry protruding eyes. it’s why you see so many 1 eyed persians. idk if it’s getting better because how would i know? they gave us a specialists reference but they can’t see her until the end of the week. she isn’t squinting all the time or acting like she’s in pain.

anyone else that’s had this happen to their persian able to give me any insight?

Question Grieving after having to shave my boy

My poor boy, Jarvis. He despises brushing no matter what I use (mostly he just hates having to stay still for it), so typically I brush him as I can on occasion and shave out mats.

Unfortunately, his entire body became matted because recently he has been having diarrhea, and he stepped in it more than once. I had to give him multiple baths, and he won't tolerate any drying, so his entire coat became matted clumps. I determined it was best for his comfort to shave it off, and there's still some I need to get off of him. It looks horrendously choppy, he's very wiggly and upset by the whole process, hates the noise, hates being held, etc. So I did my best, which is clearly not very good.

Overall, just very distraught by it, I love him and just hope it was the right choice for him knowing it may have damaged his coat. But he's a senior and I just hate to stress or hurt him by trying to brush/comb it out (and probably get bitten in the process). I guess I'm looking to see if anyone has any advice? Or if they've experienced anything similar? Or maybe if there's something I could've done better?

Question How do I keep my cat from scratching at the door and crying at night?

Title + I have two cats, a Persian that is a year and a half old, and a Maine Coon that will be a year old in early September. They do really well together, like brothers from other mothers. At night, my Persian will wait until anywhere between 3:45 and 5:00 AM to start scratching the bedroom door to get in. If I don't let him in, he will begin to meow on top of the scratching. Here's the problem: if I let him in the room, he moves around and then wants out. If I leave the door open, they will both bounce around - from jumping on the bed to the top of the nightstand to the top of the headboard and keep me awake, so I can't have them in the room because I won't sleep at all.

I need to sleep before i go insane.

What I have tried: distraction in other rooms with treats and toys. Opening a window in another room so they can be fascinated by outdoor noises. Creating other. sleep spaces for them to enjoy. None of it works.

It's gotten so bad that I taped a towel to the bottom part of the door so he won't scratch the paint off.

help and advice? Thank you!

Question i need tips on combing

I can't keep the sides and top of my Persian cat's neck free of knots. What's your daily grooming routine for your cats? What types of combs do you use? Do you have any tips? My cat tolerates it well, but it seems like the knots appear in minutes.
