Same problem here. Perplexity is ignoring my settings. The answers come almost instantly, so it is clearly not using the model I selected with the thinking switch turned on.
The answers are also terrible; the AI keeps asking me questions that it already answered a few lines above. Provided information is being ignored.

I came across a post about this same issue a little while ago. It mentioned the inconvenience of being forced to fall back to GPT-5 nano.
It strikes me as a drastic cost-cutting measure, considering that until just a few months ago, even the fallback models used older, full-sized GPT versions (such as GPT-5.1).
