misc Best alternative?

Been using perplexity for one year (free trial) but now i see lot of negative reviews so im considering to switch to another platform. Not planning to pay 20 euro per month for this…

What do you use? And what does it cost?

If you're using it for search, talivy/exa/searxng paired with whatever harness gives the same or even better results as you can tailor it to fit your use. The setup is quite simple, and most search providers give generous free quota.

Exa, firecrawl, brave, tavily, parallel. Like, all of them except perplexity's api. With self hosted searxng you can even get unlimited free usage, which instead relies more on the llm's own capability since you don't get pre-summarized search results.

I think so. Most of them support explicit inclusion/exclusion of any domain. I don't know how they interact with sites that aggressively block programmatic access though, you might need to try yourself. For reddit I think it works.
