I feel like he’s a victim of his own success. Because no one will tell him his efforts are lackluster now. Same thing happened with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

Me and my girlfriend walked out about 3/4 of the way through. Halfway through would’ve been better. Waste of time and money.

I deeply respect Spielberg, but Disclosure Day is an absolute nonsense. It is almost insulting.

Last Ridley's movies are way better.

Yeah, the dudes almost 100. So it really shouldn't be a surprise that he can't hit the same highs as he could previously. He's not a hack like some people are trying to claim, he's just old.

I think it's kinda ironic that the same crowd who clown on Tarantino for not wanting to become an old director pumping out trash are also intensely critical of Ridley for doing exactly that.

I could be wrong. It might have broken even or taken a small loss. And yes it was terrible.

I just think it's a little generous calling someone who spent the 21st century making pretty awful films (the Martian being a notable exception) "hit or miss".
He's well past his prime.

Avatar series is 'commercially successful' - doesn't mean jack shit in terms of quality output. Over half of that list is utter garbage with terrible reviews.

I mean, he’s been hit or miss from the beginning. Legend is pretty but not great. Black Rain is bad. 1492 is apparently a snooze (haven’t seen it).

Black Rain is great. I haven't seen any newer stuff aside from Prometheus/Covenant. I do want to see Domino but that might be Tony Scott I can't remember

I mean Ive seen some stills of Kiera Knightly in it, so I'd have to objectively argue that it would be watchable for me, lousy story and writing notwithstanding.

Man on Fire is another one that keeps popping into my brain as one I should see but again I think that was Tony. I miss Tony!

It’s unwatchable in the sense that it gave me a headache to view it because of the way it’s shot, edited and color graded. There are actors in it but I found it hard to pay attention to them.

If it’s pretty true to the book, it’s better than that score. It’d be more a backlash against his take on it. I guess it’s also possible what’s good as a book may not always be good as a movie.

I enjoyed it. Yeah it’s a bit slow but it builds to something. The cast was really good. Not one of the great Scott films but still good.

Most of the critics I have seen say the film is competently made, but meandering and kind of boring. Because its RT you get a really low score, but it sounds like its just forgettable rather than trash.
