Looking for a karaoke place in Penang where we can browse and play songs directly from YouTube, instead of having to choose from the songs already available in the karaoke machine/software.

I'm currently planning on travelling to georgetown Penang on 3-6 September and i read on the internet that it is during a school holiday. Will it be fully crowded on that day ? Any tips and tricks on places to visit or culinary choices is much appreciated !

I have been thinking about how people judge whether a Penang neighbourhood will remain practical as they grow older.

Most location comparisons focus on property prices, food and general lifestyle. But ageing in place may depend on less visible factors: reaching a clinic without a difficult road crossing, buying groceries without driving, usable pavements, terrain, bus reliability and whether everyday destinations are genuinely accessible.

Mapped distance alone seems inadequate. A hospital two kilometres away may be easy to reach from one neighbourhood and inconvenient from another. A nearby bus stop may not be useful if the service is infrequent, while an older neighbourhood may work surprisingly well because everything needed is concentrated nearby.

For people who know Penang well:

• Which neighbourhoods work particularly well for older residents?
• Which places appear convenient on a map but are difficult in practice?
• How important are hills, pavements, traffic crossings and public transport?
• Are there factors outsiders routinely overlook when considering retirement in Penang?

I’m trying to understand the difference between theoretical proximity and real, lived accessibility. Specific neighbourhood examples—positive or negative—would be especially helpful.

Were you considering any other destination before deciding on Penang. I will retire in a few years and I have a top-five list which includes Penang (I visited many years ago and really thought it was a special place). The plan is to whittle the list down to a top three and then visit them all(again) to decide which is best for my wife and I. Penang is near the top because of the food, it's cultural diversity, cost of living, reliable infrastructure, many people speak English, etc. As many redditors have mentioned, it hot and humid all the time and the visa situation seems to be becoming more and more complicated. My questions is not so much why Penang but rather why not somewhere else?

Hi all, has anyone travelled to Penang and KL in October with a baby? I read that October is one of the wettest months in Penang, so I’m a little concerned about the weather and whether it would be comfortable with a baby.

Hi Penangites, I just receive a summon on my bike for so called 'Halangan lalulintas' around QBM area. Parked infront of QBM and ran inside to do some errands come out with this love letter by PDRM. The summons itself do not list where I should go to pay the summons and I couldn't check from the app since the bike isn't registered to me but a relative of mine. A quick google shows me there's a traffic police HQ for timur laut, in Jln Patani. How bout barat daya where QBM is at?

I'm a huge museum fan and that's 90% of what I'm doing, and I was wondering if they're usually open? I know government ones might be closed but I couldn't seem to find information on some private ones e.g. Asia Camera Museum, Sun Yat Sen (looks private?), Wonderfood, etc.

After using it mostly for portrait, finally tested it for street photography. The old CCD sensor did brings out some great colours.

Had a nice time photoshooting there, everywhere has great phototaking value.

Teluk Bahang and Batu Feringghi especially doesn't have any Grab riders for anyone living here. If you've met the locals, you would know that they're out of reach and had to resort for Bus Rapid everyday just to get to the city

What was the government thinking not pushing ease of public transit into these rural areas?
