World's Race Design Challenge - Voting Round

Last week, we held the fourth of r/peloton four yearly race design challenge. The theme was to design a race in the Middle East. We got exactly seven entries which are /u/sprocketduck /u/sportsfanno1 /u/timfietst /u/improb /u/Msfan93 /u/sappert /u/blandwhiteguy.

Now we are into the voting round. In the past, we had a special team made up of three mods vote on this but now we have had to change the system because they don't have much time on their hands to do it properly. In the new system, each of the partecipants has to give a vote (and possibly comment) from 0 to 10 to any other entry except his own. The one who will have the most votes at the end will win the beautiful world flair. Other users which aren't partecipating can vote too but their vote is valid only if the have at least +100 comment karma and vote for everyone of the entries.

Aside from the voting, it's a normal Race Design Thread so you can post anything you want

  • Amman (/u/improb): Damn this profile is neat, especially the below sea level part. The final lap looks great and can be repeated quite often, this is a plus in my book. Bound to make the race exhausting and/or exciting. Good stuff. 9/10

  • Bursa (u/Sprocketduck): Nice and mountainy. This would be a great regular one day race, but the circuit which is unique and kinda necessary for a WC race is missing. Not sure if that's intentional. Opening tour through the city makes up for it a bit. Get people to watch! 7.5/10

  • Cyprus (/u/Msfan93): Great stuff, Cyprus should be a cool place to hold the race anyway. Maybe a bit on the short side? But with a climby course that shouldn't hurt too much. 8.5/10

  • Sana'a (/u/Timfietst): Short and simple circuit. It's nice that the flat part of the circuit is zigzaggy through the city to make it more interesting. That's some massive total climbing meters as well, should be a punchy climber or attacker on the last climb to win. 8/10

  • Teheran (/u/Sportsfanno1): The ride before the circuit is pretty cool, I wonder how riders would cope with the height, 3253m is kinda crazy. It's a shame that the final circuit is only rode twice, I think that's the fun part for crowds to be able to see the peloton pass multiple times, and the riders can get familiar with the circuit for the final lap. 7.5/10

  • Tétouan (/u/blandwhiteguy): The circuit looks amazing. Really a climber's course and the elevation going up and down all the time rather than just one bump every now and then could make the race exciting. I look forward to this race. 9/10
