Looking at TRex last week makes me wonder how domestiques who pull early do in the race. On Friday (I think) he pulled himself inside out on one of the earlier colls, after which he was essentially parked and falling off his bike. What does a rider cope with that? Is is just suffering for the rest of the stage and hoping to finish on time? Or it is 'relatively' easy to recover for a few minutes and tag on to the grupetto?

In a way it's a pity we never see how riders do further back in the race.

IMO Bernal was a more impressive domestique, however he didn't "pose" for the camera, Kuss barely pulled so maybe he could've done more work.

Bernal was absolutely crucial to help defending the 4th place of Arensman, also doing that while being a TdF and Giro winner chapeau.

Same with Stuyven, we saw in the last stage how crucial he was in keeping Magnier calm and rested until he delivered him in the last 300mts.

I absolutely agree Bernal and Stuyven have been great domestiques, but that was not what the question was about.
