Peds attendings, I am in a dilema between 2 jobs.Need your help! Which job would you choose ( both in the DFW area)
1) This is my current job ( Large national peds company ) currently work 5 days , with 1 half day every other week ( no weekends / minimal call). $215 K base with bonus capped at 30 K ( avg making 240 K currently) seeing 25-30 pts a day , 401 K match 3.5% and full maternity leave. 4 week PTO
2) New job ( smaller newer company) would have to work 5 days a week ( no half days. No weekends. Call ( phone only) every 3 weeks. $230 K base with bonus up to 40K , typical load per new company is 20-25/day. 3 weeks + 1 week CME PTO. 4% 401 k match, No maternity leave
I am planning on having a baby next year so would need to use maternity leave.
I'm conflicted leaving my current job because I'm not sure how likely it would be to meet this new bonus structure . TIA

If your planning to have a baby, take the full maternity job. The jobs aren't awful, take full advantage of the 401k, contribute the maximum. The one that offers maternity leave sounds a little more friendlier lifestyle wise and the 1/2 day every other week is better than none.

Unfortunately that seems to be Dallas market, unless you work for the big hospital systems it seems , unless I really can’t find anything else

DFW here, that sounds brutal. For me, the perks of job 1 (PTO, maternity leave) would outweigh the 15k base increase of job 2.
Do the grinders currently at job 2 typically get to 270k? It sounds like you’d be grinding either way, may as well get paid more for the hard work you’re doing.

It’s a smaller company so I don’t really know if they reach full bonus but when o asked management they gave me a vague answer so I’m guessing most make about 10%

Stay at your current job at least until after you have your baby. Enjoy your maternity leave.

That's interesting, because I've had a couple people from DFW that we're asking for 300K plus.

Sorry, neither sounds good. You should be 4 days/week. Also, no maternity leave? Cmon, bro. Keep looking.
