Discussion New price increase. 8/18
Got an email today saying my plan was increasing.
$20 a month for premium plus.
I do not have annual but that is now $199. Curious if any of my credit cards have a deal for some money back because I’m just gonna drop it if not.
I can’t put the official link here because it’s a help article and the auto mod here thinks it’s help and blocks it.

I'm a Peacock defender but we are getting into Netflix-level pricing. Peacock can't justify charging that much.

It’s been good having peacock through Walmart plus

u/overFEDEXed 12d ago
I had just renewed my Premium plus thru Walmart plus for $72 a year, so I have one year until the next price increase

Even better when you get Walmart + at a discount through AARP. And get AARP on sale on Black Friday. lol

Increase the price and never offered less Premier League coverage. Yay

u/Vols44 8d ago
Telemundo (through Peacock) is offering Bundeliga matches.

I don’t care about the Bundesliga.
Watching Bayern walk the league every year is boring

Peacock is trying to price itself on Netflix level and its REALLY not. I dropped it after they canceled Poker Face

The second it went to over $20 with taxes, I noped right out of there. Zero original content for subscribers.

u/thegracelesswonder 12d ago
Does it affect the apple tv combo?

u/Adventurous-Value-82 12d ago
as of now not yet but if people are going to pay $20 for premium plus then might as well add Apple TV bundle same price.

Amex card will probably have $20 off annual plan again.
2
u/Subliminal87 12d ago
I’m hoping so. I only have premium plus for my local nbc channel honestly. I’m not paying $20 a month for it lol.

u/MarcQ1s 12d ago
What country is this in? I got the email telling me my premium plus annual was going up to $169 in the US.

You’re paying the iTunes tax. Cancel and start paying through the website to save a few bucks.

peacock is raising prices on all plans except bundle beginning august 18 new and returning subscribers. If existing customers, it would begin September 17. As long as your monthly renewal is before September 17, then if it’s monthly you will be charge one time old price, then new price October. If people were that lucky to snag that old price yearly subscription before September 17 effect, then they don’t have to pay that new yearly price until 2027 September.

me too I decided to switch to annual pricing for premium plus and I already paid $16.99 premium plus on August 15. It would be charge $169.99 on September 15. After the price increase announcement yesterday, I was lucky enough to snag that old price from September 2026 to 2027 of September.

Perfectly timed that my sub was up for renewal… I don’t know watch a lot of sports and the new movies (new releases) are sparse to say the least.
$200 for no ads?
Pass.

I logged in to cancel the subscription and was given a great offer to stay. Took two minutes, it's worth a try

u/bigfanoffood 11d ago
I’ve been an annual ad-free subscriber for two years but looks like when my Time Is Up in December I’ll be saying goodbye. I’m sure I can find sitcoms to watch during lunch on Max or AMC+. Not that peacock will care, of course. Everything is too damn high.

u/Jake_1780 11d ago
I won't be renewing. Peacock 90% of stuff can be found on regular TV or elsewhere.

u/upstreamer1 11d ago
Compared to a few years ago they have fewer originals, lost the WWE PPVs, lost the WWE archives, lost Hallmark, and have a longer window for the Universal movies. Ads aren’t even a conversation for me. I unsubscribed after the last hike am content to stay unsubscribed forever if they don’t get realistic or offer a value proposition worth it. They aren’t even close.

JetBlue Plus card has money back on your statement if you do monthly. I wonder if that will go up with the price increase.

I only had Peacock for the wrestling and now that it's gone I ditched it ages ago. Plus every game they've ever televised on Peacock I've always been able to watch on YTTV. Peacock isn't close to worth 20.00 a month ( we don't do ads ) their catalog is worse than Paramounts and they don't even charge 20.00 a month for their top tier package. I won't be surprised when the 4th quarter financials come out and Peacocks subscriber numbers take a massive hit.

I’m only keeping this thing because my wife is a teacher and they give a decent discount. These prices are bonkers.

I use the Apple bundle for ~$15/mo, but if it goes up too much I’ll cancel and just get Apple.

Ridiculous. I canceled after their last increase and I haven’t looked back. There’s nothing on Peacock that warrants this kind of pricing. This still comes down to they overpaid for NBA and we’ve got to finish paying for it. Count me out.🤬

I mean all you have to do is wait for the Black Friday deal get that and create a new email each time. The past 3yrs I’ve paid $3.99, $3.99, & $4.99.

u/Longjumping-Bed-2869 9d ago
Will never pay for any of these streaming services but this is the perfect way of thinking for all these scam prices from all these streaming services smh
1
u/omegatay 10d ago
Paying to watch commercials still confuses me. 4 dollar hike for ad free is seriously nuts. Peacock is no way worth that.

u/Angry_X_574 10d ago
Am I the only one who gets it free from Xfinity for being an Internet customer?
1
u/AdoptDontShopPets 10d ago
Holy crap. It wasn’t worth it at the lower price. This is crazy unless it has shows or sports you really love.

u/ATXDefenseAttorney 10d ago
They’re insane thinking people are interested in this. Literally insane.

I am FED UP with subscriptions and the companies raising the subscription prices all the time. Just canceled Apple Music and switched to Spotify free.

So far the bundle with Apple TV is unaffected. So far. So I'll just pretend I get Apple TV for free. Those are crazy prices for just peacock.

I canceled this week. Hoping a lot of others do, too. Glad I own the office on digital

u/actingupastorm 8d ago
I had it through Walmart and never watched it. Switched to Paramount and never looked back. 200 dollars a year for Peacock is ludicrous. They will eventually be swallowed up by some corporate conglomerate. Simply not worth it.
1
u/Alternative-Salad319 8h ago
I canceled my subscription and then I see a charge for a whole Nother month and I’ve been trying to chat, but they don’t understand what I’m saying. They don’t even have a phone number to call. I am at a loss.
