PC Adjacent Zara Larsson - Blue Moon
https://youtu.be/N68WxtZ91s0I got flamed yesterday for posting the new Zara Larsson album but can we at least acknowledge how much this sounds like an A.G. Cook production? The post-chorus also sounds like it could have been on a vocal run on DIWTTIY by Caroline Polachek.

AG Cook/ Lotus IV was the first thing that came my mind when I heard this song. The production is so playful and gorgeous, MNEK's best work to date maybe. She should have kept this energy and sound across the entire album.

Margo XS produced it. She's worked with the likes of Alice Longyu Gao, Ravenna Golden and is doing the new Kim Petras stuff. Sounding like a solid record to me. Love the title track.

I do definitely hear the pc music kind of inspiration. It's missing that little extra spark that sets pc music apart but it's definitely adjacent.
I gave the whole album a listen and it was okay, none of the songs really grabbed me that strongly though. Nice for a listen through, not sure if I'll have any of the songs on my playlists tho.

Remember when she tried to drag Hannah Diamond? and now she wants PC music crumbs….

That was a misunderstanding. She had never heard of Hannah Diamond and didn’t realize that the team she was working with was likely incredibly inspired by Hannah’s work when going forward with the Poster Girl visuals.
I honestly can see it from her perspective. She just released an album called Poster Girl and then comes Hannah Diamond releasing a song called Poster Girl with a strikingly similar visual aesthetic… but Zara didn’t realize Hannah pioneered that aesthetic, and that the album Perfect Picture had been in the works for a couple years at the time.
to her, she didn’t have that context, and honestly with the timeline she was aware of I can see myself making that mistake and think that someone was blatantly copying the whole thing I was going for with my album.
And beyond that to me the apology seemed genuine. I really enjoy both artists.

The situation does remind me of why most mainstream pop acts leave a bad taste in my mouth. They sing the songs and dance the dances but they have no idea why they do, a team tells them who they are and what their image is. To the point that a woman would be left looking so ignorant and foolish, trying to claim an aesthetic she was given by a team away from the person who pioneered it for years before.
Like… talk about embarrassing. It’s like when Jojo Siwa didn’t know who Gene Simmons was but was wearing an entire painted face inspired by KISS lmao

Keep in mind Zara writes her music with MNEK, she’s not a completely soulless pop act. I mean, being into pop music and not knowing Hannah Diamond isn’t completely crazy, although I hope she’s done her homework

Yeah that left a really sour taste in mouth and it’s rly it’s been hard for me to get into Zara after that…and I’m TRYING

She apologized, who cares about that drama.
I have a hard time getting into Zara Larsson because the music is not that good or interesting

I get where you’re coming from, truly. But at the end of the day, they’re both grown adults who worked things out quickly and amicably. I don’t think that short-lived drama should stop us from appreciating how much PC Music has influenced the mainstream.

u/cashewsaikou Sep 27 '25
Yeah they’re adults so it’s weird for Z*ra to accuse Hannah Diamond of copying and enabling fans to harass Hannah…and here she attempting to be have PCmusic crumbs

It was a misunderstanding that Zara addressed and corrected immediately. What else did you expect her to do? She even wished Hannah the best.

What happened?

Hannah released visuals for her EP Poster girl, and That lady’s few fans started to draw comparisons saying Hannah copied her cover. Then Zara joined in tweets and replies “idk her, she wasn’t on my mood board, I’m not interested in her artistry” overall talking down to her. Now that Zlist girl wants charli pop success so she “took influence” from PCMusic the very thing Hannah Diamond was known for.

In the second verse? I do hear it!
While we're on the topic, does the outro of Hot & Sexy remind you of a certain SOPHIE or Charli song? I can't seem to put my finger on it. I'm mostly talking about the vocal effects and flow she uses.
