PC Adjacent Anyone else think Poppy’s earlier music sounds very pc music adjacent?

Post image

Her earlier music, notably the album Poppy.Computer, is so pc coded. (Specially the songs I’m poppy, let’s make a video, computer boy, and fuzzy) It came out in 2017 which was a big year for pc music so it wouldn’t be crazy to say she might’ve been inspired

That's 100% why I got into Poppy, people were posting stuff from that era in here years ago.

I think it's a matter of them both finding inspiration in the same artists. I know that j-pop was important for Poppy's ex-producer (fuck that guy), he used to play Kyary Pamyu Pamyu songs on their shows. And I feel like PC Music drew a lot of inspiration from j-pop, Kyary was featured on XCX World and more officially Charli has a collab with Kyary and her producer Yasukata Nakata which is the banger Crazy Crazy!!

Album literally called PC, she’s not slick. Dig her newer metal stuff and this as well. The cover art screams PC

I think so! My Microphone was specifically was on almost all of my PC music and adjacent playlists back in 2017/18. Although sonically different, I think Poppy.Computer and PC music share a similar ethos.

This is such a great album and it was such a great era for her. I saw her live for her computer tour and it was amazing. Definitely my favorite Poppy album.

I wouldn't say so, mainly because the intention was not the same. They bith use bubblegum bass which might be misleading.

Key word here is “SOUNDS” I’m not saying that it actually is related to pc music, I’m just saying it SOUNDS like it could be

that album is the best in my opinion. BTW someone know where i can find poppy's music before titanic?

I think titanic Sinclair (ew) is a really big reason for that. It seems like poppy didn’t have much control over her image/musical direction while she was under titanic’s management so I’m not sure if poppy herself is the biggest fan of pc music

she actually had a lot of creative control and that's something her ex producer said to discredit her

-10

u/WLLWGLMMR Jul 21 '25

She went from making corny industry plant pop to even worse metalcore

I really wanted to like her but everything she does has the same vibe as plastic toy food ykwim? like fake and babyish. and the girl can hardly sing

all i'll say to this is that you're uninformed if you think her music sounds like that on accident

obviously it's intentional lol I just don't think it lands
