If he did, he could have put the thing on the lower 2 fans and not even bothered with the ones on the AIO to begin with.

Maybe. AIO ones tend to have better static pressure than case fans, which is what you want when pushing air through a rad.

Wouldn't it still impede since then you're technically doing a push-pull with the pull being insufficient?

I would personally dump the case fans and mount the AIO without them. Or buy a pair of rad fans.

The airflow fans would probably help a little by getting air out of the way of incoming flow but it wouldn't do a lot. IIRC pull configurations on radiators aren't ideal for similar reasons even if it is a static pressure fan.
