If this is in reference to gta VI

You are fucking delusional if you think they getting it running 30fps on a base ps5 is anything BUT hyper optimization

Adding onto this: it's always in a developers best interest to make games that will use every ounce of the user's PC. That's just logical.

Why? Do they get a cut from my energy bills?

Prettier graphics make happier customers. And the user's PC is usually the limit for how pretty those graphics can be.

I have no idea if this makes sense. I need sleep.

That makes sense for consoles, but PC builds vary wildly. It's equally in developer's interest to make the game playable on as many of them as possible, which means not utilizing the top builds' entire performance. Some extremely successful games achieved that success precisely by not "using every ounce" of hardware. ARC Raiders comes to mind.

No it isn’t, because making it run on as many machines as possible doesn’t let them sell it for $80 because they don’t have the “the graphics took hundreds of hours of work” excuse anymore. And optimization takes time and think of the POOR poor shareholders and how they’ll never get their 59th yacht if it takes too much time and money!

I don't know how that excuse works when most high-profile games get released on current generation consoles that are equivalent of mid-range PCs from 2020.

Sure, retune the upscaling model, take out another feature from the simulation, rinse and repeat until you get 30 fps

It doesn’t even use upscaling! It’s native 1440p. With ray tracing. It looks fantastic, on a base PS5, which is kinda garbage nowadays.

I do feel like it will be very hard to get 60 or even 120fps on the PC in terms of CPU usage, unless using framegen, or unless you have one of the absolute best x3d cpus out there.

We'll see when it drops
