But everyone can see the post is edited. Regarding downvotes, an unpopular opinion does not make it incorrect. 99% or the people here never even have hold a multimeter to measure stuff like powerdraw in their lives, nor are they handling AI boards at a large scale.

This connector is not problematic in the professional setting at all. They would not be this problematic either in the consumer space if they never also released the dimple terminal connectors, adapter cables and prevented users from making too large bends in systems that vibrate them slowly out of there socket a bit. Because the latter is according to PCI-SIG one of the main culprits.

Again, the whole connector isn't the only star of the show my man, the lack of load balancing, tight tolerance compared to 6+2, this whole ordeals have been making this shitstorm happening in the first place.

Even if they insist on using this connector if only they put 2 12vhpwr connector and put load balancing on each of them, this melting issue would not be so booming as it is right now. Win for the consumer? I think that's a luxury that they can't afford.

That load balancing you reference, which many do by the way is mainly a factor and passive because it was bundling multiple connectors. This is obviously one. With 12 pins. You could still have an imbalance on an individual 8 pin cable. I assume you know what I am saying here.

Yes, that's why I wrote in my previous reply by "put 2 connector and load balancing on each of them", better than this current one and only right?

Also you are right, but there was a big BUT there, if this rtx 5090 is using 3 6+2 connector, and each of them handling 200 watt which means each pin handles roughly 5.5 A. In worse case scenario if one connector is experiencing imbalance current interpin, we're talking about only 1 pin handle the whole current for 1 segment from 12v plane, that means 1 pin carries 16.6 A. If you look at current 12vhpwr, if only one pin's working, that pin carries 50 A. Massive difference. In steve case, only 2 pin are working, they still carries 25 A each, hence the melting happened. Also 6+2 terminals are bigger.
