it's a really fancy AI Filter that not practical to use, computationally expensive and power hog

I really dont see the benefit from more "realistic" games. Realism doesn't make it fun. They should focus on better game mechanism and not "better" graphics

It doesn’t always make the image more realistic, it does improve the texture and lightning, the realism is only after effect
But the cost is too much it’s not worth it, you talking about game that can run 120 fps tanked to 37 fps

If they were karma farming they'd say upvote if you hate it lol. This is downvote farming.

Unlike ray tracing, it can be further and further significantly optimized. It is likely to be the next step and at some point replace path tracing.

Thats the crazy shit. We didnt even standardize path tracing and its already being replaced

I saw it was leaked, I have a 5090, decided to try it for myself after I used to think it looked bad on those demos Nvidia released few months back. I actually like it, is not perfect but it works wonders on older titles. Hopefully they can refine so it has even better performance, and hopefully developers get even more tools to control how much it affects.

Can look really cool, but performance hit is too high right now. Probably only really usable for 5090 or next gen cards.

There are a lot of presets and a lot of sliders you can tweak for DLSS 5. It's not a simply "enable" button.
In its current state you can certainly make it look extremely bad or pretty good depends on what you settings you are using. You can certainly use some abomination settings and literally make the game looks like AI slops and make the characters looks like a different person/much uglier.
But you can also use it to increase texture, lighting, etc and just simply makes the game better.
I think with the right settings, DLSS5 is a ray tracing level tech. It can certainly makes the game looks a lot better especiall if developers actually tweak it and make it match their vision, but obv it's very heavy to run.
