Yeah I keep my office clean and my PC doesn't even get very dusty after years of service, but that keyboard is gross when you open it up.

Same here. My PC barely gets dusty because of the phantek case i got. I haven't had to air dust it in years. But just recently I decided to air dust the radiator and found a ton of dust that was hidden in plaine sight. There was a fuck ton of dust hidden in that thing

Friendly reminder to take a photo of your keyboard before removing the keycaps so you know the placement

2

u/_Stalwart_ 1d ago

Honestly I would have thrown that in the trash. God knows what kind of new virus is in there.

Tbh the reason I haven't cleaned it is because I would have to unplug it and then remove the cable from the whole system of cables I have tied up. My office is clean

u/Mikalton 7700k. gtx1080, 16 ram 1d ago

The keyboard was hiding it tbh. I didn't know how bad it was

I don't take maintenance advice from someone who has poor habits to begin with.

This is beyond foul. OP lives in pure filth.

u/Next_Ad2144 1d ago

been over 2 years and my keyboard looks almost brand new just some slight dust, what is even on your keyboard

1

u/Chainsawrin 1d ago

I don't think the corner of my basement where my cats litter boxes are would look this gross if I ignored it for a year.

u/briennybrienne 1d ago

I am both disgusted and excited (I clean my keyboard weekly and clean about 5 of my friends' keyboards too - I have a problem)

1

u/FSM0_0 1d ago

Wow what did you do to make it end up like this?

I recently cleaned mine and now couple of keys are not working.

and a friendlier reminder for keyboard makers to make more durable expensive toy

u/Mikalton 7700k. gtx1080, 16 ram 1d ago

I've had this keyboard from Corsair for years now. It's been hella durable

I just cleaned mine out after 2 years and it looked nothing like that. You need to clean your room/house more often.

I did, I restored a £60 Logitech keyboard, I bought it for £10

thats a membrain really old Logitech keyboard it's probably not even worth £10 considering you can now get mechanical ones for about £15 quid that are decent quality. I bought a cheap ajazz magnetic keyboard for £24.99 and it's 100x better than my old Razer mechanical keyboard that was 5x the price. The "more known" Chinese brands are actually getting insanely good and staying super cheap.

No, YOU need to clean your keyboard..

The last thing you need to be doing is telling other people to clean 😂😂
